Florida Atlantic(+14) over Oklahoma State (1*)
- - If you're on a popular dog, it best be a live dog . . . HC Schnellenberger and his athletic charges have been permanently relegated to playing 4th fiddle (if that) in the Sunshine State. Against a stouter opponent I might just settle for an "action junkie" play, but I think Schnellenberger in a seminal moment rates a posted play against any riled up charges of HC Gundy.

Adding:

Toledo(-22') over Western Michigan (1*)

- - Two halves to crank up the familiar at the Glass Bowl is almost invariably one half too many.

California(-9) over Washington (1*)

- - Tedford vs. Willingham in a game that has both teams' focus is a sizeable mismatch in my catechism. Washington is a program that is not used to being down and is coming in off a tough loss; my textbook shows that as a different animal than a Cal program that has been doing things and taking strides very much the right way, and comes in after scheduling a mismatch in its opener in which it failed to hit its stride . . . The $64,0000 question with my $40 wager is coaching up the QB for his first start.

Iowa(-8') over Iowa State (1*)

- - Drew Tate commands the Kirk Ferentz program that is what it is.

Minnesota(-13) over Colorado State (1*)

- - I believe Colorado State will be more resilient than last year, but hitting the road against a Big Ten foe presents a tough spot in the textbooks I've learned from . . . The something-other-than-tough Gophers like to put on airs to that effect when the opportunity presents.

The leans go to San Diego State(+8), Notre Dame(+7), Georgia(-17) and Stanford(-3).
