Four Cup drivers complete test session at Sonoma
NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers Joey Logano, David Reutimann, David Ragan and Max Papis completed a two-day test session at Infineon Raceway on Wednesday in an effort to hone their skills on the 10-turn, 1.99-mile road course.
The drivers, who took laps in Late Model stock cars, were preparing for the Toyota/Save Mart 350 Cup race on June 21.
?This will be my first race here in a Cup car, so it?s good to get some track time,? Logano said. ?It?s a tough track, but it?s really fun. I think I?m getting the hang of it.?
Logano was coached by road-course veteran Chris Cook, who has also worked with NASCAR drivers Johnny Sauter and AJ Allmendinger. Logano will pull double-duty at Infineon, competing in the Bennett Lane Winery 200 Camping World West Series race along with the Cup event.
Papis, a road-racing expert, helped coach Reutimann and Ragan in addition to his own preparations.
?Even if we drove a rental car out here it would help,? Ragan said. ?I just needed to get back into the rhythm of turning left and right.?
