San Francisco Giants -115
Chicago Cubs -170
Los Angeles Dodgers +120
Seattle Mariners -155

Seattle Mariners -155

This game reminds me of a thoroughbred claiming race for Padre righthander Carlton Loewer.

The former Philadelphia Phillie was traded to San Diego. After missing his entire Padres debut season due to injuries he began the 2000 season on the 60-Day D.L. following surgery on his left ankle, which was fractured in a New Year's Weekend hunting accident. He made 2 rehab starts in the minors before requiring season-ending arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder.
??
His return to the majors was six days ago in Seattle where the Mariners hammered him for 6 runs on 6 hits in 2 1/3 innings before he was taken out.

Today he faces those same Mariner bats with a lot of trends working against him.

Seattle is 10-0 away in game two of a series and 8-2 on Saturdays this year. San Diego is 0-7 home at night vs lefties and 2-8 home in game two of a series this season. Of course, when you have won nearly 80% of your games it is easy to find positive trends.
??
I don't think Loewer will be any quicker out of the gate today and unfortunately for him he may be on his way (claimed) to the Padres AAA club in Las Vegas after this outing.

He does have one thing going for him. Seattle has only won four of twelve in San Diego.????

Great write-up! It's hard NOT to like SEATTLE this year in any game.

** Just one note:
Seattle is 10-0 away in game two of a series
SEATTLE lost Game 2 to Colorado in the rained out make up game. It was GAME 1 of DH on Thursday. BUT, we get the DRIFT!!

SEATTLE looks solid!

I stand corrected.

I remember now they did a late flip flop on both teams starting pitchers from the original listed pitchers on Island Express. Thanks for the correction.

Still, 9 - 1 in game 2 of away series isn't too shabby. Let's hope they bring home the bacon tonight.

That one stat about Seattle only four of eleven at the Padres makes me a little nervous, but I think we will get there. After all . . . we're betting on it.
