Holiday Bowl ~ San Diego Jack Murphy/Qualcomm Stadium (2.5 hrs south of USC)
Iowa has NOT played a team w/speed like USC at receivers... closest was probably Minnesota.. they have a few great WR's but gm was at Iowa...
They cannot duplicate USC's team speed to practice against... USC has 4 or 5 guys w/speed not seen by Iowa before... advantage USC
USC's QB Slovis is a legitimate wunderkind ~
coached in HS by Kurt Warner, he's ahead of his time in maturity and reading defenses... audibilizing.. extreme accuracy.. the kid is a true freshman.. he's really pretty great and will become even greater!
After losing @ Notre Dame 30-27 (they could've easily won that gm), they did this:
beat Az 41-14
def Colo 35-31 (road)
got snuffed by a GOOD Oregon team (they're gonna roll on Wisconsin)...
beat Az St 31-28 (road)
def Cal 41-17 (road)
handled Ucla 52-35
Their offense started clicking about halfway thru the season, THESE GUYS CAN SCORE!! Home or Road.
I don't see Iowa holding them under 30...
Will the team rally around Helton now that he didn't get released from his contract..?? I'm not sure :shrug:

WK 3 nipped Iowa St 18-17
wk 5 held to 3 against Mich (L 10-3)
wk 8 beat a mediocre NW team 20-0
nipped a mediocre Neb team 27-24 after Thanksgiving (Neb's "bowl game")... overall kinda just like you'd expect I think.
They play better at home, esp defensively... nothing special on the road.
I saw most of 2 Iowa games.. their QB looked like crap one time, and much more poise and accuracy the 2nd time... not sure which one will show up.

I like Mike Leach, but the Cougars are a real rollercoaster, and often end up blowing a tire in their bowl games...
Wouldn't surprise me if it happens again.
Air Force is good! Solid on defense, Very capable on offense... even playing against larger and sometimes faster opponents, they will give their all..
