The Yankees are in a hitting slump and had to get on a plane and fly all the way across the country after a very tough series against the Devil Rays.
Lilly has some serious problems facing a 6 day suspension and doesn't have the best road record going 2-2 ERA of 5.08, the Yanks are 1-2 in his last 3 starts he is 1-0 vs the A's ERA of 4.77 but that was in the friendly confines of Yankee stadium. Lidle has been very impressive in his last 3 trips to the hill going 2-1 with a rock solid 1.96 ERA, he is 1-0 in 3 starts against the Yankees ERA of 3.86 with the A's going 3-0 in those starts.
NY is 5-4 as a road dog, 59-39 on grass, 39-29 at night, 31-23 on the road and are 51-37 against righties but are only batting .237 in their last 10 games as a team. Oakland is 25-19 as a home favorite, 59-46 on grass, 32-24 at home, 44-28 at night and 21-19 against lefties but are hitting them with a .304 avg. as a team in their last 10 games.
Two very solid bullpens here that have not been used all that much both have ERA's under 3.
I think we get the Yanks in the perfect spot here coming off of a very tough game yesterday then having to travel all the way to California while the A's were in their beds and should be very rested.
