Toledo at Old Dominion
Over 127
Homecoming for ODU in what should be packed house.
Toledo undersized this year and lost 3 very good players[Justin Ingram, Keonta Howell and Florentino Valencia] from last years team..Their play against Vandy certainly warrants attention.[lost 77-70].This is a rebuilding here for Toledo.
The most experienced returnee for the Rockets is senior guard Kashif Payne. He earned the Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Year award last year after helping the Rockets average a league-high 9.2 steals per game.
Toledo coach Stan Joplin admitted he will have to rely on Payne to carry the team.
The two returning starters for ODU will have to come out of the shadow in which they lingered the last couple of years. That would be swingman Brian Henderson, who averaged 9.4 points a game, and guard Brandon Johnson, who averaged 8.3 points a game.
Gerald Lee and Jonathan Adams will have to pick up the scoring slack and showed some signs of it in key games last year, Lee reaching double figures against Georgetown and Adams doing the same in an NCAA loss to Butler.
The Monarchs won't lack for height inside with 7-3 Sam Harris.[basicly a project gone bust..hardly improved his whole stay at ODU..showed some signs of at least contributing w/8 points and 9 bounds in last game but hard to believe he can take over a game.Should help tonight though w/undersized Toledo team.
Monarchs like to get up and down the floor, especially at home.
Can't see Toledo slowing the flow down and the 127 total holds value.
Side at 8' and lean that way but ODU coach Taylor likes to get a lot of players into the action and will not hesitate to give bench playing time as he sets his roation.
Toledo w/70 against Vandy...I believe they will need that tonight and a little more to get an outright win
