CMU comes into this game hot, they are 6-0 in conference had have wraped up the mac west for the season. This will be the last home game for the niu seniors. NIU comes into the game losing 3 of their last 4 games including a home loss to toledo and a road loss where they were torched by iowa's backup qb, but they have had 10 days to prepare for this one. The thing is im not sure if that really matters, after suffering the loss to toledo niu's season has become basically meaningless. Being 3-3 inconference and 5-5 overall even if they won out it would be highly unlikely they would be invited to a bowl game. NIU is defenetly a run first team but they are not completly one dimensional, but they need to run the ball well to set up the pass. CMU has one of the best rush defenses in the mac giving up 130yards per game. They have the ablility to stop wolfe.
Since losing at kentucky at the end september cmu has been unstopable winning 5 games in a row rather easily against mac opponents. They have proved that they can hold their own on the road this season. CMU has the most balanced offense in the mac, but their bread and butter seems to be the passing game where qb Dan LeFevour is haveing a very steller season. He completes 62% of his passes and has only thrown 7 picks on the season. CMU averages 240 passing yards per game this season, and that number may be down due to the fact that they have had comfertable leads in most of their games this season. This is a huge advantage in this game considering that niu has allowed an average of 261 yards passing per game, which is very high considering how much clock they kill by running the ball so much.
Ive read in other threads that this could be a letdown game for cmu since they have already clinched the mac west, but i dont see it. This game is going to be their first game on national tv for the season.(i think) I think they will be able to move the chains all night and will be able to win the game by 10 to 14 points.
Cmu -4 220/200
Any opinions are appreciated
