1) Monmouth (+17.5)

Just don't see that much of a difference between this team and Niagara. They have one common opponent already.........Monmouth lost to Villanova by 23, Niagara lost to them by 15. They are a young team, but have some depth and use it, and I like the size of this squad..............six players 6'7" or taller.

Tiger, fwiw, i attended both games you are referring to involving nova. niagara was competitive throughout(more of a 8pt. kinda game), while nova led monmouth 45-13 at half. monmouth's best player is out for season. niagara is easily 20 pts. better. just a heads up. good luck to you.

ZMAN, thanks for some great information. Can't get anything better than a scouting report from someone who was actually at the games.

I read about both of those contests, and it seemed like Nova never got going against Niagara.........perhaps because Niagara is better than advertised, perhaps cause the Wildcats were flat.

The line has really moved on this game.......down to 15 now, so it'll be interesting to see how it plays out. Again, thanks for your insight.

2) Virginia (+14.5)

Looks like a classic flat spot on the schedule for Syracuse after consecutive, very close wins over ranked Florida and Kansas (overtime).

Virginia can score, and now has 6'11" senior center Soroye back to help at both ends of the court, and can also rotate in 2 other big men (6'11", and 7'0"). They will hold their own on the boards and are a very good free throw shooting team.

heading to palestra fri. night for penn state/rhode island and villanova/towson. college hoops is the best.
