Gotta kill some time.
Some thoughts on Friday.
I clearly have no clue so best to be oppositionally situated.
--Misch was pretty decent in 2 of his 4 starts last year and might help keep the score down. Kendrick, himself, has had a rough schedule with games at Colorado, Cinci and Metland; Giants easily his weakest opponent yet. 9.5 seems high.
--Germano is a joke this year and Marlins, 'til their last series, have been doing a number on righties. Pads hit lefties well last year but are putrid so far in '08.
--Dumatrait-Chico? I dunno...over probably.
--tough to go against Volquez right now. Tough to go against Hudson always. Under 8.5 with the right ump, save that either squad could kill that with a good inning against a reliever.
--Oswalt looks affordable. Been turned off of Charlie V this season. Astros O ain't half bad and a strong home team against a team that doesn't travel well. Oswalt loves pitching at home. I'll probably try this one so bank on the Brewers.
--Wainwright much better than Hill. Cubs offense better. Cards bullpen better. Cards hitting L pretty well this year but lack power numbers. Tempting.
--Francis pretty decent at Coors last year but not so hot in 2, so far, this year. Actually, take away his 2 starts vs the D'Backs and his numbers aren't so bad. Still, Rox are totally not hitting (since the World Series, it seems) and Dodgers are starting to lately. Jeff has solid numbers vs the Dodgers and just faced them, looking good, though the Rox lost, scoring only a pair (against the sensational Loaiza!
). Penny, always worth consideration, is 13-2 against the Rox, just beating them back on April 26th; he's 5-1 with a 3.79 at Coors. I might try this so consider the Rockies.
--Owings has excelled but faced no one significant (Giants twice, Padres, Dodgers, and Rockies who haven't been hitting). Definitely prefer Maine. Mets a strong road club. I'll probably part with my money taking a shot here. Go D'Backs!
...worked for the Jays only win this past decade...nevermind
Going to submit, bang my head against the wall (twice) and pretend to resolve the A.L.
