Mets at PHILA

Two teams coming off losses yesterday, METS at home in NY, and PHIL in OH CANADA! Being an afternoon game, PHIA probably had no trouble getting home at a decent hour so that should have little effect. HOWEVER, they are on a four game skid, have lost their hold on FIRST PLACE, and now must face a HOT MET team. PHIL has been hitting the ball meekly for awhile, as have the METS, but the METS are pitching! METS have score over 4 runs ONCE in last 10, while PHIL has managed to go over 5 runs twice in the last 10. BOTH teams come into this game batting .231 over the last 10, and even worse against RH, NY .218, PHI .223. In an odd stat, the home team is 1-8 in the last 9 games between these two, and the UNDER is 9-1 in the last ten. YOU got one team hot, METS 5-1 in last six, vs cold, PHI 3-7 in last ten, and neither hitting. UNDER is the word for the day! I also like the METS as they are 6-1 when REED starts on the road where he has an ERA of 3.30. PERSON has led the PHILS to a 7-2 mark in his home starts, but that's with a 5.30 ERA and a 12.86 MOB. He obviously has enjoyed great run support, but I don't expect that tonite!

REDS make another trade today after getting Todd Walker from the Rockies yesterday, and I don't think they are done. REDS players have to be in a bit of disarray over all this and are traveling to FLA to take on a hot MARLINS team. CLEMENT hasn't been stellar this year, BUT is much better at home and in his last two starts there has only given up one run in each going over 6 innings. With the trade of TUCKER for two minor leaguers, I can't see the REDS getting too many off of CLEMENT and like the small price on the FISH at home. I don't think they let this one slip thru their FINS!!

Montreal at ATLANTA

MONTREAL is killing the ball right now and I don't think this is the team MILLWOOD wanted to face coming off the DL. With his uncertainty and ATL's woes in the BP, I like the EXPOS tonite to give ATL all they can handle. UNFORTUNATELY, Thurman is NOT the guy I want on the mound for them, as he's giving up 16 hits and 13 ER in his last 11 innings. I would look to go OVER, but ATL's bats are too quiet, and so far this year, they've only managed to score over 8 runs ONCE in six meetings. All six games have been close, with only one game being decided by more than 2 runs. THEREFORE, I can't take the big dog outright, I'll take the +1.5 and hope the EXPO bats don't cool off in the HOT ATL HEAT!

MONTREAL +1.5 -120

was loving the ANA/BALT game UNDER, but since there's still a cloud hanging out there, it's PPD.

Toronto at NYY

This is a PASS for me... TOR may be worth a look against a rook and their past success against YANKS, but I can't play it. Too many other goodies to gobble up!

Detroit at CLEVELAND

OVER 11 even

Texas at T BAY

was originally passing this game, or playing the OVER with Nolan, but UMP is an AWAY ump and goes UNDER 4-0 on the total of 10, so I'm going with TEXAS as the Home Team is -590 with this guy behind the plate.

Texas -135

Rander, thanks for the comments. You might find this interesting. Before I read your comment I was still kicking my ass over Sea yesterday. Here's how it went.

Yesterday morning I got up intending to play Sea. They've been real good to me. I worked the game up and thought, "they don't have to win this game". Later in the day I worked it up again and came to the same conclusion. Well some other people started posting it and since I have tunnel-vision and really wanted to find any reason to play, I worked it up again. Guess what I told myself after the third time? So help me "a person would have to be crazy to play Sea tonight". Later I commented on another thread that I could find absolutely no reason to play Sea. I told you I had a one-track mind. At no time did it dawn on me to play KC.

Good luck tonight.

DODGERS -117
UN 14 -120

I'm sorry... this is either the biggest trap or I'm missing something. DODGERS should kill the Rockies LH and trading WALKER will hurt the COL lineup. MORE TRADES COMING??? I can't see them being up for this game after giving ANOTHER one away last nite. 14 is an obscene number for any game, let alone two clubs that just haven't been producing runs. MILWAUKEE GAVE LA about 4 yesterday, so they managed to hit a couple HR's to get to 8. I see this game as 8-3 LA at most!

Brewers gave away a game yesterday with LOTS of mistakes, both managerial, and mental. EVEN a couple of physical ones, but they won't have the same liberty tonite, as I think HITCHCOCK shuts them down. I don't like SD to win necessarily since they blow at home, but I think SHEETS and HITCHCOCK will pitch a gem and have a nice duel. Final score 3-2, you pick the winner!! Both hurlers will TRY and go at least 7, and hopefully HOFFMAN recovers from the ANGELS game the other day to close it out if SD is ahead.

HUGE game for both teams so expect BONDS to play, but not be effective. HERNANDEZ is now 4-1 in his last five home starts after starting 0-6 at home. He's settled down and pitching much better, and I look for this to be another low scoring game. COL/SF didn't score in seven innings last nite, and I look for more of the same tonite. IMPORTANT game in the division race for both, since hopefully LA will be up big on the scoreboard in COORS, these two play tight and someone wins 4-3. Not picking a side...
