Kansas City area for who knows how long....
Theodore and Richter ( Blackburn to start tomorrow at Pitt sez NYPost)

Hnilicka, starting as a bonifide no.1 for first time, and Irbe? most speak of him, but could see Weeks tonight and Irbe tomorrow vs Tampa Bay.

Dunham and Kolzig

Giguere? and Turco. I'm guessing Giguere--he started on back to back road nights several times last season, it's a big game, and they don't play again until sunday at home vs Detroit. DallasNews sez Turco in tonight, Tugnutt tomorrow at PHX.

Grahame? and Fernandez? More guesses. Ftorek never announces to public who he is starting, and there is no number one now--or in MN.

Rangers have won last 4 meetings at home vs Montreal, and all three last season--two by 1 goal. Bure out with strep throat, maybe back tues (I doubt it). Theodore 1-6-1 vs NYR with 2.49 gga and .915 pct. Montreal went 7-2 in preseason, scoring a league high 43 goals....under is 5-1 last six meetings (2001-2002). MTL open at home tomorrow vs Buff.

Thrashers had good preseason--off season added to defense and offense. But Carolina is 12-0-3 all time vs Atl. 2-0-1 at home vs Atl last season, but two were OT wins. Atl beat 'Canes twice in preseason (similar last year too)....ATL 2-1 in road openers--they open at home tomorrow vs FL......The under is 10-2 in the Canes last 12 overall. The under is 6-3 in the past nine meetings.

Washington had third best PP last season. Nash was 23rd, but PK was 9th. WA started preseason 0-3, but finished 3-1--team and Kolzig got sharper with more play....WA plays next 8 on road....WA and Nash met once last season at Nash in 3-3 tie...WA is 3-1-0 vs Nash, and Preds are 1-3-0 on opening night.

Dallas' Arnott out, paper sez Guerin will play tonight. Ducks 3-16-1 at Dallas all time, but 2-0 since Dallas has played in new Amer Airlines Ctr.....Over is 5-2 last 7 meetings....Turco 1-0 vs Ducks, 1.29 gga, .913 pct. Guiguere went 3-0 vs Dallas last season. Ducks went 1-7-1 last year on 2nd night of back to back travel on road.

Boston started preseason 1-5, then got somewhat better and finished 1-1-1. last game tough fought loss to NYR. MN has won all three meetings with Boston, outscoring them 13-5. Wild have first season opener at home in three seasons. Coach said they so excited and confidence up after going 7-0-1 in preseason, that he may have to "hose them down"--afraid they'll stray from defensive team system..... Most teams in preseason sat veterans against MN....

good luck to every one!!

Minnesota Wild goalie Manny Fernandez, who struggled in goal for the Wild last season after an impressive first year with the club, knows he has something to prove this fall.
