friday ncaa basketball/mac tourney ......

ended up catching all four mac games in person thursday. been a long ass day. didnt intend to go to the late session but couldnt pass up free tickets. miami game was unwatchable though. refs totally took that game over. 57 total fouls in the game and 67 total foul shots (39 for miami). just a terrible game.

hit the real big one thursday afternoon on buffalo. gave a few bucks back at night. ohio played awful......and kent found a way to play worse. kent was starting to take control of the game. gerwig gets beat for a layup. commits an intentional foul. basket counts. plus two free throws (which were good). plus the ball. absolutely huge swing. momentum ohio. game over.

call it what you want.
call it greed if youd like.

but taking everything i won on buffalo thursday afternoon......and rolling it back on buffalo friday night against western michigan. bulls are winning this tourney.

very strong play (again) -- buffalo bulls (pk)

too tired to look at the rest. will get to it at some point. but safe to say buffalo will be my main play for friday as well.

Agree that the bulls looked nearly flawless yesterday and are a very attractive play today. I got them at -1 this morning and would suspect that this game closes at 2 or 3. I missed out on the pickem line as I was sleeping off the 8 or 9 Amstel Lights most of last night.

BTW: did you check out the rebounding and FT stats on the Zip game? Not often you get beat by a team that shoots 30% but thats exactly what happened.

Back tonight, both games on sportschanel so I'm staying home.

You are right on with your assessment of yesterday's games. Kent was up 34-30 and it felt like they needed on more basket/stop to pull away. Then came the intentional foul disaster. I was glad that by that time I had enough alcohol in me that it wasn't as painful. But it still hurt my bankroll.

I got Buffalo this morning at PK and put a large amount on it. The only way WMU wins this is to hit an incredible percentage from 3. Reed got away with taking some horrible shots yesterday. He won't be able to do that tonight. Buffalo's inside strength will wear down the Broncos big guys and that will be the difference.

I have been following this one closely, the line has moved up UB +2.5 at some places. I really can't figure the move, both teams evenly matched.

With Cleveland in such close proximity to Buffalo, it will be like a home game for the bulls. It sure sounded like it yesterday on the radio broadcast...

as far as big line moves go, i pay more attention to them in the regular season when theres far more variables and not all games have the same importance. at this point (conf.tourney time in mid-majors) the games mean everything to both teams. i think buffalo is playing the best ball right now. in a one-and-done tourney, the 'steam' wont beat me. western michigan is the only thing that can beat me. if buffalo is good enough to win, they will advance. if theyre not, then they go home. line move wont decide the winner of this semifinal game. buffalo and western will.

as far as the fans go, both teams travel very well. buffalo was very impressive yesterday with their fan support. lots of students showed up. wmich brought a ton of people last year, and not quite as many this year -- but still a solid base. wouldnt surprise me to see a very pro-buffalo crowd though.

i said it sort of tongue-in-cheek but was very serious when i said i would not post in hoops the rest of the year if carolina beat duke by double digits in durham. and i will come back with the same statement here. im not guaranteeing anything. but i will say this: if western michigan 'destroys' buffalo, then i will not bother posting another ncaa hoops game the rest of the season. so if western wins this game by 10+, then ill see you guys in the baseball forum. and im dead serious. western michigan may very well win. they may very well cover. but they sure as hell aint runnin away with this game. id go so far as to say id put my money on buffalo winning by 10+ long before id put it on wmu winning by 10+
