27-20 after 4-0 wednesday, faders deterred for the moment, but likely to return for tonight's play.

iowa +2-: being the only game in town tonight, this matchup has already been analyzed more than freud's housecat so i'll summarize the highlights and throw in a few other thoughts. iowa finally at full strength for the first time tonight, and most acknowledge that freeman is the straw that stirs the hawkeyes' drink. he's had 10 days to rest his sore foot. drake downed iowa last year in des moines for the first time in 27 years, but most of that bulldog team is gone, and the current iowa squad faces the prospect of being the first hawkeye team to lose to drake in iowa city in 40 years, and the first to lose back to back in the history of the series. to boot they're the underdog on their home court (another first). any iowa player that doesn't motivate shouldn't be on the floor.

dr. tom's son keno coaching drake now, and his style mainly derived from his dad and vol coach pearl, for whom he worked as an asst. hawkeye coach lickliter familiar with both so game plan should not be a problem. bulldogs sport a flashy record but it comes against a strength of schedule somewhere in the bottom 50 of div 1. drake likes to run and throw up the threes, and tonight face a hawkeye d that, at home, holds opponents to 36% fg's and 26.9% from the arc. game total of 121 tells all who the linesmakers expect to control game tempo tonight.

iowa's had trouble with attendance of late but tonight expect their best crowd in some time. not knocking what drake has done this year thus far, but it strikes me as overreaching to see them in the rare positon as road favorite against their big 10 in-state rival.

I'll chime in, now live two miles from Carver Hawkeye Arena. Weather sucks moving farther north. Redsfann and I get together when we have time. You need to meet Mike, class act like yourself. I'm with you, on the Hawks tonight. Makes me cringe, as a Cyclone grad:shrug:

Nice work this year, as always Counselor.

Ahh, Wayne..ya got me blushing...:mj07:

And just when are you going to come by for a beer on Thursday night, anyway?

heard your ad on the radio about comedy night at the course. Sounds like a lot of fun--won't make it for obvious reasons. Hope it goes well for you, bud.

Loop-

Won't be making a hoops game until after the 1st of the year. And, yes, Iowa is as bad as advertised, but Alford is long gone and I like the future with Lickliter. Maybe Iowa will fill all 15,500 seats again real soon at Carver-Hawkeye.

just the same lousy big-10 refs they have always used...:D

but you aren't going to go to the line when you spend the whole game shooting(and missing) jump shots.

keep an eye out for Keno Davis in the coaching ranks. don't know how ambitious he is, but if he spends a few years building something at drake, i could see a bigger school coming after him.

i was impressed with drake last night--keno certainly learned a lot from his father and from bruce pearl, too.

the mo valley is a tough hoops conference, so time will tell how well the bulldogs do this year.

klayton korver is almost as good a player as his brother--he hit a 30 footer last night--nothing but net...
