Arizona at ATLANTA
I played this as soon as I saw it come out at -140, figuring the line would climb. I like BEARDOWNAZ decided to play the DYNAMIC DUO to win each time out, and will not back off that system. I took ATL in game 2, so I'm doing fine so far in this series. (Although I was foolish enough to play UNDER in game two & got burnt!) That being said, here's my take on the game...
I'm unsure on the total, but I like the DBACKS here. ATL was terrible at home vs RH starters all year, (-2430 actually) and gave BURKETT nothing for run support almost the entire year. In his last 3 starts, they did manage to score 6,6, & 8 to raise his average runs for to 4.6. AND now there gonna continue to do that vs SCHILLING??? I doubt it...
ARIZ is solid EXCEPT for the "bend over, say OUCH
BS BULLPEN" so look for SCHILLING to take matters into his own hands and go the distance or at least 8 if he has a 3-4 run lead. He's very tough vs BRAVES, and I think ARIZ mentally has letdowns when BATISTA or LOPEZ are pitching, knowing they will HAVE to score alot in order to win, as the BP will be used at some point. When CURT or RANDY is on the hill, they know 1 or 2 may do it, and can relax, knowing that not only will the other team not do much for 7 or more, but the BP may not even get the ball! That's a huge relief for them.
I think you see a much more relaxed DBACK team tonite, knowing they have the advantage on the hill, and the better team will win. I know this the PLAYOFFS and not the regular season, but you can't tell me that ATL can't have their terrible home record somewhere in the back of their minds. The fans may not be there in full force, and without that, ATL has NO advantage in this game except for the BP. IF SCHILLING goes NINE, that too is eliminated. NUFF said....
ARIZONA -140
As far as the total, that's scary. ANGEL HERNANDEZ is murder on UNDERS for whatever reason, in fact, his last 10 GAMES have gone 8-2 O/U, and the TWO games that went under, both landed on 8, OVER the 7 - 7.5 posted on tonite's game, and involved a good pitching matchup in his most recent, Ramon Ortiz vs Tim Hudson that ended 6-2 for the roadie A's. I look for something similar tonite, 5-2 or 6-2 ARIZONA, so I may pass on total completely. It's hard to play an OVER with the way the playoffs have been such an UNDER haven...
Any commments are welcome... even KOSAR!*
* Not stirring anything up, I'm teasing, that's all KOSAR. You've been redeemed in my book, not that it concerns you, but thought I'd let you know, k? Besides, I must concede... I can't PISS VERY FAR!
