Heres my plays so far for the day with a little write up on my best bet. 2 units on all but the best bet:
OVER 8.5 YANKEES -115 (BEST BET) 5 units
Detroit -150
Cleveland -140
Texas +105
UNDER 9 Arizona -110
Well as far as the OVER in the Yankees game goes. First off, Yankees are averaging 5.8 runs per game vs. righties at home, Seattle is averaging 5.8 games vs. righties on the road. Plus the fact both pitchers are a little off form as of late. Abbott's era the last 3 is 4.35 but is allowing a high average of 13.06 batters to reach base per nine innings. Mussina on the other hand is allowing 10.89 batters to reach base per nine the last 3 games which is respectable, but has been giving up hits in pressure situations thus accounting for his high era of 6.16 the last 3 games and when facing the Mariners, there's surely gonna be some pressure moments in the game.
As far as team vs opposing pithcer matchups:
MUSSINA faced the M's once this year and got banged around for 10 hits in 6 1/3 innings in a loss.
ABBOTT is not feared by the Yanks at all either. The righty is a career 1-3 with a 7.71 era in 7 appearances vs the Yankees.
Bottome line at first glance the game looks like it could be a pitcher's dual, but in my opinion the game goes over this low total of 8.5 easily!
Good Luck to all!!
