yes, it's time for the kick me in the NUTZ pick...
this early week i took TB in three straight games and won...who would have thought they were gonna sweep all four straight..???

1) taking TB +1.5 (-125) against Minny
AND the UNDER 9 -125

i see this to be another close one as both offenses are struggling, minny's in a tailspin and TB has a good pitcher on the mound in Sturzte. Reed ain't too bad himself and both pitchers ahve good career marks vs their respective teams:

Sturtze career against minny:
W-L: 1-0
ERA: 1.83
G: 3
IP: 19.2
H: 15
ER: 4
BB: 4
SO: 14

reed's career against TB:
W-L: 2-0
ERA: 3.43
G: 3
IP: 21.0
H: 20
ER: 8
BB: 4
SO: 18

BUT..
Sturtze has wonhis last three decisions
with a 2.08 ERA

Min 0-4 vs Tampa This year

2) detroit -1? +135 over KC.
lefty Chris George beat detroit last time out for his first major league win..don't think that's gonna happen again...Lima's pithing great lately and should be ready from this one as KC swept them out last time..should be revenge for Detroit.

3) aha...this is the type of game where everyone thinks that the odds are in favour for the home team...

taking METS
eek.gif
+125 vs LA ???
and the UNDER 8 -105

i know something you don't know....
actually I'm just joking...

Glendon Rusch is pitching, and although he has a good ERA on the road...i think that the METS bats are starting to wake up a bit...when i say this, i mean that they should score about three runs...the Dodgers, having been embarassed by Montreal might be gripping the bats a BIT too tight tonite...

BUT. I'm playing with an angle here:

LA is 3-14 in game one of a series, after a loss.

Most of Terry Adam's home games have gone OVER this year...and it think LA will be taking the METS lightly in this first game. LA has a history of starting off slowly in game one's of their home series'.

all the game ones at home after the all star break for LA....?
W/L 2-3 scores 4-1L,2-1L,3-1L.3-1W,5-0W
wins were against milwaukee and colorado
losses were against montreal, cubs, cinci..enough said.

be weary of this LA at home in game ones when they've lost their last series game.

now watch this one be an LA slaughter....

4) jumping on this one before it gets out of hand...

taking the YANKS/SEATTLE OVER 8.5 -115

mussina and abbott have been banged around this year alot by opposing batters...the last two times abbott was in the bronx the final scores were like 11-1W. 11-5L.

Mussina faced em at home and was they lost
7-3...so why is this line so low...?
i dunno, maybe because it's a game one and the batters need a game one to get a good feel for their opponent???
whatever.

another interesting stat is the starting pitchers respective NIGHT ERA:

mussina is 4-7 with an ERA of 5.23.
abbott is 4-1 with an ERA of 5.54

makes you think, eh?

Why would some books leave total at 8.5 with vig of -140 for over, while others move total to 9? That always makes me think, especially depending on the book. Last time Sea came to town, all 3 games went over. But I think all were late overs thanks to BP's.
