YTD: 109-87 (+73*)
The spreads are as I took them, some of them as early as Sunday night, some as late as a couple of hours ago.
Friday:
10* Arkansas -4.5 over LSU
The winner of this game goes to the SEC Championship game in Atlanta. LSU has looked very good in some games this year and very average in others. Their main problem is that QB is a huge problem. The lack of a passing threat puts their running game in jeapordy. Arkansas is as underrated as LSU is overrated. There's a good chance the Hogs would win this one even in Baton Rouge. In Little Rock they should have little problem.
7* Nebraska PK over Colorado
Revenge at home is, in this case, good enough for me.
Saturday:
10* Oklahoma -14 over Oklahoma St
Wasn't it Ok St who ruined the Sooners' perfect season last year? Do you think the Sooners remember this very vividly? You will see a supreme effort from a very talented, well-coached, and motivated group of football players. This spread might be covered by halftime, and you won't have to worry about a backdoor cover in the 2nd half. There will be no mercy!
10* Alabama -12 over Hawaii
A lot of distractions are going on in and around the Alabama program right now, which we won't go into. And we know how hard it is for teams to travel all the way to Hawaii, take in the sights, and focus on a football game. Even so, the Tide is just too talented for the Rainbows. Hawaii doesn't have the defense to slow down these guys, while Bama will cause problems for the Bow's passing attack. Bama wins this one by at least 3 touchdowns.
7* Kentucky +8 over Tennessee
I never thought I'd be saying this in my lifetime, but there's not really a significant talent gap between these two programs right now. The Vols have lost some very good football players for the season and are not quite what they could have been. Kentucky meanwhile has been playing like a team possessed. This game will be very close and an upset is not out of the question.
7* Syracuse +21 over Miami
Strange things have happened in the Carrier Dome over the years. IMO this is one of the top home-field advantages there is in college football. Miami actually got fired up to do war against Pittsburg last week, but I can't see them getting excited a second week in a row to play Syracuse. Meanwhile, the Orangemen will approach this game as their bowl. Miami will win, of course, but I will be extremely surprised if it's over 3 TDs.
5* Boston College -28 over Rutgers
BC traditionally runs up the score against weaker teams. They are in the mood to do just that this week, and they shouldn't have too much of a problem. If they are focused, they win by 40.
5* Southern Cal -9.5 over Notre Dame
USC is playing about as well as anyone at this point in the season, and Carson Palmer has become the star at QB that everyone felt he could be. Notre Dame has over-achieved all year, and they will find themselves ambushed in LA. The Pac-10 isn't known for its defenses, but the Trojans have one that can slow down anyone's offense, while the Irish don't have that great of one to begin with. Give the points.
5* TCU -13.5 over Memphis
TCU was upset by East Carolina last week, which should guarantee they will be in a nasty mood. Memphis, frankly, just isn't that good of a football team. This could and should be a blowout.
That's it for this week. Good luck and have a great weekend!
