yest 1-1 -2 units
playoffs 5-1 +11.63 units

expected rain in both games today. I'd be surprised to see either postponed, but something to think about. the last thing mlb wants is to scramble schedules. unless there is zero visibility and puddles in the field i think they will play through light showers.

this has been a chalk playoffs so - far. the self procalimed greatest capper on the net said bet all dogs. hmmmm....... i'll have to pass on this advice for now. i suspect some dogs will start barking, but perhaps not so fast. i hate going against the best capper on the net, but unfortunately i will at least for today.

CWS +1.5 -130 x 3. I didn't buy the Red Sox this season and don't see how they can advance to the next round. I think Cleveland was more deserving going into the postseason, but they choked themselves. Boston wins games with bats and nobody besides Ortiz and Manny is hitting. I'm not willing to be that changes today. I would lean to the under, but don't bet postseason totals and somebody can shoot me if i ever play a game under at fenway. Garcia 6-2 lifetime against the red sox, but he's got 65 k's in 76 ip which says a lot to me. I don't think the red sox can just automatically turn it on today. On the flip side Wakefield has been impressive this year, but hasn't been that great against the palehose. He's given up 124 hits in 116.1 ips and sports a 5.42 ERA. The thing that I think will come into play is that the knuckleball isn't going to be as effective today as on a warm summer day. Rain is expected and its a heavy front meaning the air is thicker and I'm not so certain the ball will move as much. CWS should get some decent AB's today. With that said, Boston as an organization has had its back to the wall in the past few years and obviously performed well. I think that CWS is capable of winning, but I don't trust em enough to play them. I feel more comfortable taking the +1.5 expecting a close game.

Yanks -260 x 3. Obviously, chalk is enormous and there is value in Anaheim (not LA) today. But I cannot see the Yanks dropping this game. This game is the single reason Randy Johnson was signed in the offseason. Randy was signed solely for the postseason. This will be his only start in this series and possibly the season. He was way off early in the season, but obviously didn't pitch as many innings as he did in years past. His arm is still fresh and he has worked out his mechanics in the last month or so. This game is his season so far and why Steinbrenner paid the bucks. Yeah he had one start this season against ANA and got lit up, but that was a different Randy before the mechanics got worked out. Lifetime under a 3 ERA against the halos and 230 k's in 209.2 ips. Here's likelyl who he will face today and how they have fared against unit:

Anderson 3 for 18 no hrs
Erstad 5 fo4 20 1 hr
Chone Figgins 1 for 6
Finley 2 for 12
Vlad 6 for 30 1hr
Adam Kennedy 0 for 2

to be fair, Cabrera has hit him well going 8 for 22, but no hrs.

On the other side, I'm not so sure Anaheim would even be in the playoffs this year without Paul Byrd. Somehow he resurected his career and posted a 12-11 record with under a 4 era. Pretty impressive for a has been and has been a great addition to the starting rotation. Its just a lot to ask him to go into the stadium in a pivotal game 3 and beat the unit. He has some pretty decent numbers against the yanks including 2 for 18 against sheff. I just can't see the yanks dropping this game in the one start that randy was signed for. If I'm wrong you can all laugh at me for playing chalk this high, and say I told you so, but I'd do it again in the playoffs in this spot.

BDB,

Wind is blowing almost straight out at 14 mph so Wakefield is going to be throwing that knuckleball right into the wind. I have confused myself and cannot determine if that helps a knuckleball pitcher or if he would prefer the wind at his back.
