southern miss (-6) 4 units. at first look, this line is ridiculous. kansas just beat a ranked georgia tech team. southern miss got blown out by south carolina to start the year. even 4 points seemed high. and now it's been driven up to 6. who in their right mind would be hammering southern miss in this game? joe q public? no way.
let's look a little deeper at kansas. first of all, start with the obvious - 13 days ago, they lost to north dakota st. at home. and lest you think the bison are an awesome team, they lost to northern iowa last week. second, georgia tech looked like crap last week. nesbitt was even more inaccurate than usual (and that's really saying something). i'm going to go out on a limb and say they were likely looking past a team that just lost to nd st, and were looking ahead to their acc opener against north carolina. third, if there is any kind of offense turner gill should know how to prepare for, it's the option.
