Friday:
4 units: Purdue (14 1/2) over St. Peters. St Peters has had some success on the road, winning 10 and losing 9. They beat both Fairfield and Iona on the road, altho they lost to both at home. They also beat Alabama and Long Island at home, lost to LB St. Purdue is better than anyone they have played this year. Of Purdue's 25 wins, all but 4 were by double digits. They were unbeaten at home, with wins over Ohio St, Wisc, Mich St. On the road, they beat Mich St, Ill, Mich, Penn St, VT and lost at Richmond and WV. I think the Peacocks can stay close early, but the Boilermakers size and strength is going to wear them down and they pull away at the end.
3 units: Xavier (-2 1/2) over Marquette. Marquette has not been terrible on the road this year, winning 5 and losing 9, against strong opposition. Nice road wins include WV, UConn, and UW-Milw. At least 7 of their home wins were against very marginal non-conference foes, although all 14 of their losses came against very tough competition. No bad losses. Xavier was 9-5 on the road, with solid road wins over Dayton, Duquesne, Georgia, Richmond, RI, and others. They beat Wofford, Butler and Temple at home. The Golden Eagles played a harder in conference schedule, but Xavier played harder overall schedule. The Musketeers win this one, although I think it goes to the wire.
4 units: ND (-13 1/2) over Akron. This one should not be close. The Zips haven't played anyone even remotely the same caliber as ND. There toughest out-of-conference games were Dayton, Cle St, Temple, Minn, and MiaFL and they lost everyone by at least 8 points, with Temple beating them by 35. They made a nice run in their conference tourney, beating Kent St by 1 in the finals. ND was unbeaten at home, with solid road wins against Wisc, Pitt, Prov and UConn. Should be over early.
2* GeoTown (-6) over VCU
2* Duke (-23) over Hampton
