Some lessons must be learned over and over. Yesterday, I analyzed the evening games and didn't find a play. Bored, I tried again and played the Reds/Nats over.
It certainly seems true that if you are lookin' for action you are lookin' for losers. Lesson re-learned.
The whole day was rat farts: 0-2 -6 Units (while playing chalk).
YTD 25-20 +23.7 Units
Friday's Play:
Fla +120 3 Units - Mitre and Santos have very divergent underlying skills. Both K about 6 per nine innings -- which is enough to avoid soft tosser status. But, Mitre walks fewer and throws 2 ground balls for every fly ball. Santos only throws 1 ground ball for every fly ball. With these underlying stats, one would expect Mitre to succeed and Santo to fail. To date, their performance is not much different. For some reason there are pitchers who seem to do things right but yet fail. Maybe, Mitre is one of them.
I am willing to bet that today Mitre is the better pitcher. The Marlins also seem to hit better. The Marlins road OPS is .801 as compared to the Pirates overall OPS of .686. In every circumstance I looked at the Marlins hit better. I am against the line movement but I still like this play.
Still looking at other games. GL.
