62-83-3(-23.05 Units) Overall
8-21(-12.50 Units) w/Best Bets
First post since last Saturday when I went a "Sparkling" 1-9(-8.00 Units). Have had some moderate success the last few days with my wagers, 15-9(+7.05 Units), so I thought I would get back on the horse & post my selections. Will give my reasons for these plays hoping to change my luck & so everyone here knows that I am doing my homework & not just flipping a coin. Anyway, on these tonight:
St Louis Cardinals -1.5(+130)-Best Bet
UNDER 7.5(Cubs@Nationals)
Cincinnati Reds -130
Los Angeles Dodgers -135
Atlanta Braves +110
OVER 7(Braves@Giants)
Cleveland Indians +170
UNDER 8(Yankees@Royals)
Seattle Mariners -120
Cardinals-BIG pitching edge for the Red Birds in this match-up. Rockies starter Jon Garland has been hit hard in his last 3 outings giving up 13 runs & 23 hits. Garland, & Colorado, are just 1-5 in his career starts against St Louis & his ERA is 5.79. The Cardinals, winners of 7 out of their last 8 games, are hitting over .300 in their last 10 games & will score tonight. Shelby Miller has been outstanding this year as his 1.96 ERA would indicate. Cardinals are tough @ home while the Rockies seem to be fading a bit. Cardinals win 7-2.
UNDER 7.5(Cubs@Nationals)-Both starters have impressive ERA's but their combined records are just 2-7. That tells me that run support has been their problem. The Cubs & Nationals both average just a little over 3 runs when Samardzija & Detwiler are on the mound. Washington has only scored 3 runs in Detwiler's last 3 starts. Both starters have good career ERA's against their opponent(Samardzija 1.15ERA; Detwiler 2.60ERA) & in their combined lifetime starts the UNDER is 5-0. Cubs are 1-8 verses Lefties this year & are hitting just .217. Add it all up & I say this game stays UNDER the posted total. 3-1 or 3-2 type score.
Reds-Pitching favors the Red Legs here. The Brewer's Yovani Gallardo has not had much success against Cincinnati over the years, just 5-5 with 4.75ERA, & Milwaukee is just 5-11 verses the Reds when he takes the Hill. Red's Lefty Tony Cingrani has been outstanding so far with a 2.62 ERA. Brewers are just 4-7 against left-handers this year & have lost 7 out of their last 10 games. Reds are usually $$$ @ home & are 4-1 this year after an off day. Cincinnati gets the win tonight.
Dodgers-Marlins are exactly what the Dodgers need to stop their 7 game slide. Has not been a good start to the month of May for Los Angeles but the Dodgers are still hitting .270 in their last 10 games. Weak hitting Marlins average just a little over .200 on the road. Main reason to wager on the Dodgers is because: Miami SUCKS!!!! Dodgers get their first win in over a week tonight.
Braves-Talk about run support, Atlanta has scored 37 runs in Tim Hudson's 7 starts this year. Hudson has good career #'s against the Giants & is 9-4 lifetime. Cain has struggled for San Francisco so far this year & has also struggled against the Braves in his career(3-6 lifetime). Atlanta wins in what should be a high scoring game which leads to my next selection.
OVER 7(Braves@Giants)-OVER is 11-3 in Atlanta's last 14 games while the Giants have gone OVER in 5 of their last 6. Braves have scored a bunch for Hudson this year & the home-standing Giants should score some as well. One more thing, wind is blowing straight out towards center @ 10-20mph. This game should go OVER by the 6th inning.
Indians-Cleveland is one HOT team winning 10 out of their last 13 games. Nice price on the Tribe who will send Cory Kluber to the mound. He has pitched well so far with a 3.06ERA. Detroit starter Max Scherzer is tough but has a 6.23ERA in his home starts this year. Cleveland has had some success against him as his lifetime 5.63ERA indicates. The Tigers are hard to beat @ home but with the way Cleveland has been going lately, the Tribe +170 is just too hard to pass-up. Cleveland wins 6-5.
UNDER 8(Yankees@Royals)-New York hitting just .219 in their last 10 games & have been held to 9 hits or less in 10 out of their last 12. Yank's Phil Hughes is pitching well & UNDER is 4-1 in his last 5 starts. Royal's starter Wade Davis has not faired well so far this season but pitching against this Yankees line-up should get him back on track. UNDER is 5-1 in Kansas City's last 6 games. Wind blowing in @ 7-12mph. Should be a 3-1 or 3-2 final score.
Mariners-Good price on Seattle only giving up -120 where they have won 5 of their last 7 games played @ Safeco Field. Athletics are struggling hitting just .215 their last 10 games while winning just 4 games in that span. Main reason to wager on the Mariners is the pitching match-up & their ERA's. Oakland starter Daniel Straily's ERA is 5.94 on the season while Seattle's Hisashi Iwakuma has a very good 1.61ERA & would be their Ace if not for King Flex. Seattle beats the A's 5-1.
Maybe Old Double Two can break out of his funk tonight. One thing is for sure, it can't get much worse. Best of Luck MadJackers!!!:0008
