1. CAPS - will look for revenge for Dec. 1 game vs. Thrashers, a
4-5 loss at Atlanta. Caps looked a bit better at Pitt earlier this week.

2. Sabres +.5 at NYR - Sabres have a winning streak!!! 1 in a row...

3. Dallas [ML] vs. Detroit - I see this as a play-off game, even this early in the season. [2 units]. LEAN to OVER...

Not doubting your pick or anything, just a question about hockey ideas for discussion.

IMO if I think there will be a "playoff type game" on tap, to me that means a low scoring game. When the post season rolls around for real, most teams tend to emphasize defense first instead of playing wide open hockey. The games (I thought) were usually lower scoring and tighter. So to me, in a playoff type game, I would favor the under and be hesitant to lay a half puck due to a tight game.

Once again, I'm not disagreeing with your over pick tonight, just thought the exact opposite about what playoff hockey game means.

I normally agree with your thinking about lower scoring games in the play-offs, etc.

I picked OVER here due to several factors...

1. Both teams have high-powered offenses, capable of going over the total by themselves...

2. Hasek retired...nuff said...

3. The Stars/Wings games have a history of being high scoring affairs...and

4. Detroit was playing BB and it's 4th game in 6 nights, usually a cause for tired legs, and thus less "D".

Sorry about the contradictory language...
