There seems to be an above average amount of frustration
not only at this site but EVERYWHERE...at work, on the streets,
in the restaurant, you name it, people are on edge....this is
supposed to be a joyous time of season, and 30 years ago it
always was, and I mean 99% of population....ALWAYS....I for
one don't like the direction civilization is going, Christmas has
turned into a monster, an ugly monster...It has taken on a new
identity, COMMERCIAL....credit cards, who can outdo who, what
ever happened to the birth of Jesus....kind of got lost in the
shuffle...that is sad and I guess that is the reason of this post.

Isnt this actually the most depressing time of the year?!!? People sad and stuff cuz they arent with their families or loved ones.

I know one dude in my class had to go to North Carolina cuz his brother commited suicide cuz he couldnt be with his family and he was super depressed.

IMO, family values in this country has gone down the tiolet...nobody seems to give a fawk anymore.

It's not really my favorite time of year either. Especially dreading the 9th and the 12th... the day each month when my two Visa statements arrive. This year was VERY expensive. I too can't stand the commercialization, but it seems in my family there's not much getting around it.

I can do without the parties with the future in-laws, and especially with my step-families (I've got step brothers and step-sisters on both sides as both my parents remarried people who had previously had large families). Those parties are chaos. Over 45 people annually attend one of the parties, and I never hear from ANY of them at any other time of year.

I love seeing the parts of my family that really matter to me, and that I actually see and hear from regularly. My parents, sister, girlfriend & close friends. And my 93-year old grandfather, who for the first time was unable to spend the winter months in Florida. He's just too frail to travel now, and kept on telling us that he wouldn't be alive for Christmas, for New Year's, for his birthday in mid-January, etc. It's depressing to hear him talk that way, and really upset everyone, especially my mother.

It was probably the last Christmas we will spend with him. And he seemed to be in good spirits on Christmas Day. So just the fact he was able to be with us made it special. That made it all worthwhile.
