Ok, so I am still in the process of deciding on opening a franchise, but the banks so far have mentioned it would help if I was employed... in terms of personal guarantee's etc.

So while in my discovery process, I still continue to interview, and try to satisfy everything. A better financial picture for the banks, as well as emplyment for me to improve my overall standing in case of franchise not coming into frution.

Remember, I have been off since January 31st. I had an opportunity with Company A, went through their entire process... met with VP etc. and they said that they would let me know in a few days (This happened about 3-4 weeks ago) the ultimately did not fill the position do to weakening numbers, and they wanted to save the salary for their books until at least 4th quarter of this year.

Right after that news, I get a recruiter to call, I get fast tracked into a meeting an interviews for a larger company... go tjhrough interviews, panel interviews, reports come back to the recruiter that were glowing. Said everything looks good fro me, but I just do not have experience in "inks" chemicals yes, but not inks. The other finalist has some experience with presses etc, and some with inks. Last week I was supposed to find out their decsion, instead recruiter calls and says there is a promotion and that their may well noe be two openings. One a specialty "ink" position, and one a more commodity type sales positions... but still looks great for me.

Today I get this:

Hello Don,

Spoke to --- this morning. You're in second right now. They've offered the position to number one and won't have it finalized until early next week. We're splitting hairs, it was that close. They all like you and could hire you over number one, however, that's not the case.

They'll comeback to you with an offer should number one fall apart ? They thought they were going to hire both of you at first after a possible promotion of one of their present sellers, however, that promotion never happened.

Thanks the effort at --- --------

I responded...

Dave-

I am very surprised by that information. I truly thought I would be getting the offer from them. Interviews went well, I thought I put to rest any
concerns that they had. The fact is they could of hired me number one, but they didn't, so there was something there that I am missing. Was it the
ability to learn the material versus the individual with experience?

Keep me posted, or if other opportunities arise.

Regards,

Recruiters last reply:

I believe you hit the nail on the head with ability to learn material vs. individual with experience. The other candidate was knowledgeable within
the printing ink industry. That's the only thing as all people who met with you face to face had very positive things to say concerning the interview.

Time to move on. I'll be in touch as other positions in MN come about.

Enjoy the week.

P.S. I'll also be back to you on --- -------- should the person not accept the position or fail other testing procedures

Fudge!!! I am looking at extending UI and I do not want to do that. Just looking to have as many options open for choosing... I hate not being in control!!! :sadwave: :moon:

You might still have a shot at bank loan if your business plan is well thought out and bulletproof. So few individuals present a proper business plan to the banks they will take a close look at someone who does. Be sure to have both short term and long term goals and cost/profit itemized as close as possible. Good luck!

Yep, I appreciate the thought... yesterday I got the numbers (actual) from a location that will help complete the financial need component of my plan.

dogface,

don't get down just yet on that ink job. depending on what the other guys situation is... (if he is currently employed) a lot of folks are hesitating to switch jobs right now. they interview and kick the tires and stuff.. but a lot get cold feet when push comes to shove.

big fear of leaving stable job, going to new company.. which means they are at the top of the list to be let go if things go south with the company.

keep your fingers crossed.

because the other guy takes this new offer, goes back to his boss and says - "hey! look how much they will pay me. match it and i will stay here"

happens all the time.
