and fallen hard. coming from a nole fan growing up, i think the louisville game in 01' or whatever it was essentially marked the downfall of this once great program(13.5 favorites, lost 14-2, if memory serves me). happened shortly after penn st and nebraska. anyone agree or care to chip in on what single game marked the downfall for a great program. a game which sunk them to relative mediocrity. comments welcome...

I think it kinda started in the Orange Bowl when they lost to Oklahoma.

However, in 01 they lost on the road at UNC 41-9 and that may have been one of the early moments to show some chinks in their armor. They also lost at home to NCST that year, and Miami ripped them a new ahole as well. It has all been down hill from there, they have not had a marquee Qb during this downfall. Rix had a bunch of talent, but he never really panned out. I think the kid Wyatt Sexton may have been a good one until he lost his mind (literally)

I also wonder when Bowden steps down if they can lure Mark Richt back over there, otherwise I am very interested to see who would be the new HC, I am not a FSU fan but I would hope they don't go find a mediocre NFL head coach or assistant like Bama did thinking it will bring them back to prominence, however if the Butch Davis thing happens in UNC, recruiting is going to be hard for everyone in that conference.
