Part of a 'plea bargain' included dumping most of my old PS2 games to clean out our den since all we use now is the Xbox. Been getting rid of most of them on EBay, turns out the guy who ended up buying my copy of SOCOM Navy Seals is a Navy guy deployed on a ship in the Middle East. Since I already sponsored 2 guys through the organization Tbonez posted, I am sending him a bunch of stuff we had left over. So anyone that plays online, next time it might actually be someone over there.

:D THATS COOL..................ace-are you still sending stuff over? I didn't know that you adopted troops. I haven't sent anything in about 3 weeks now for I have been pretty busy and haven't got out to shop for them. Its alot of work isn't it? I'm not complaining because the responses in letters and emails have just been so incredible and these guys are just so grateful + I enjoy the learning experience I started off pretty clueless to many things militarily:shrug: but have learned alot.and truelly have the upmost respect for our troops now. I haven't been able to stop thinking about the guy from philly germantown area that went over board diving for a football 3 days from home I originally posted 2 hours from home I was misinformed did any one else catch the story SO SAD:( dude was playing football on deck I suppose happy as hell to be so close to home, fell over board (presumed dead still no body)

T - so far we have only sent over one package each, and that was a couple of weeks ago. How long do they take to get there? Frankly we spent a lot more money than we thought we would, probably $25 - $30 per package plus the $15 for shipping a 4lb box of stuff, but we went to Sams Club and Wal Mart so we got a lot of stuff for the dollar. Like huge 12 packs of Big League Chew for $3. OK I secretly kept a 12 pack for myself. But we got them tons of stuff, phone cards, socks, some foodstuffs and toiletries, magazines, a whole bunch of goodies - some they asked for and some we thought would be fun to have. I will probably wait to hear back from them before sending more, just to make sure they are actually still over there. I never met those guys but I think about them every day.

ACE- I hear ya it can get VERY expensive My neighbor is my partner in crime thank god. our packages have weighed in at anywhere from 22-30 pnds I didn't know that I could request an APO that would be cheaper to send to so the one marines packages has cost us up to almost $40 to ship out:shrug: We have sent out everything you could even imagine if you want some ideas let me know.

I started sending stuff during the war so my packages in the beginning were backed up,but most of the volenteer stuff has slowed down and the media is some what quite but they ARE still there you can check if your troop is there still by emailing them and asking and if he or she is not they can give you some one else. It takes about 1-2 weeks you should include your email also but keep in mind they wait in a line for like an hour to get on if they can and have tons of emails to answer.......I had my kids have there classes draw pictures and write letters one of the guys took the time to write them there own response it was nice:)

I think it is great that you guys sent stuff over there. My nephew is over there and I send him packages a few times a week. I actually called a few of my customers and ask them to donate some stuff to me. Johnson and Johnson sent me 12 boxes of stuff that cost me $90 to ship but I didn't have to put anything out for the stuff so it wasn't that bad. We were told not to send or write anymore because he is coming home but according to the news it seems to be getting a bit more hostile over there. I hope he comes home soon. I miss him so much.
