Further evidence that the BCS has to change

The goal of the BCS, is to match-up the two best teams in college football. I get that and have no problem with it.

What the BCS has to do is get rid of these bullshit automatic bids for conferences, and the "choosies". What is the point of the BCS rankings, when you have teams going to BCS bowls that don't belong?

The Orange Bowl gets screwed with #15 Clemson vs #23 West Virginia

The Sugar Bowl takes #11 Va Tech vs #13 Michigan

#6 Arkansas
#7 Boise
#8 Kansas State
#9 South Carolina

OK, South Carolina and Arkansas get punished for playing in the toughest conference in the country. Boise gets left out for who the hell knows what, and K. State the same.

Don't have BCS rankings outside of the top two because it seems the rest are pissed on.

Sad when the Sugar Bowl takes two at large teams ranked behind Boise, Kansas State, and Baylor.

The Orange Bowl is just sad, but at least there could be some points.

Just my opinion, but I think the following bowl games are more attractive than the Sugar and Orange:

Cotton - Arky vs Kansas State
Outback - Sparty vs UGA

Baylor-Washington is going to be fun to watch, but my question to the dumb shits in the Sugar Bowl would be - Would Baylor-Michigan be more attractive than Virginia Tech?

I agree VT has no business being in a BCS game. They played almost nobody and beat no one of substance. Further, they've sold only 5000 tickets as of today. Strange selection, don't get it.

However, I take exception when people claim Arkansas, South Carolina, Boise and KSU are somehow more deserving than Michigan. Michigan's resume is similar to all of these teams. Remove the little number next to the name and compare the resumes and you'll find the bodies of work are all very similar.

The only team IMO that has a legitimate beef with Michigan is Michigan State, and Michigan State wasn't eligible to be selected due to their #17 BCS ranking.

Arky only lost to #1 and #2, that is the problem with what I am talking about mainly.

I would love to see Baylor vs Michigan.

BTW CWood - do you give ALL credit to Hoke this year or is Rich Rod at least getting a little credit for the offense especially?

Right, but on the other hand they got blown out by both teams. Arky has a nice resume but its similar to the other two loss BCS conference teams (not including VT).

I think Hoke gets a ton of credit for turning around the RichRod woe-is-me losing culture so quickly. Borges (OC) showed a ton of versatility in using Denard Robinson the right way. He had no spread option experience before this year, pretty remarkable performance by him. The other big takeaways from this season are that Rich's defensive recruiting wasn't as terrible as people thought and that his defensive coaching was even worse than thought (and everyone knew it was horrible).

Brady Hoke faces pretty stiff challenges the next two years. His current senior and junior classes are relatively talented. Thanks to RR's recruiting tailing off hard at the end the underclassmen are not as talented. He faces a similar situation to what Weis did in his 2nd-3rd years at ND, talent wise. The good news is I think Hoke is a better coach and hired a much better staff. We'll see.....

I think you hit the nail on the head with "the staff". Would still love to see RG3 and Denard go at it. Would be the most exciting matchup in the bowl season.
