This seems to come up every year or so when folks are getting ready to get either the MLB or NFL package. They try to install something, and get some hammering note from their HOA saying they are violating the rules and will be fined. Since I have gone into it ad nauseum with a lawyer and talking on the phone with the FCC I wanted to provide this link to everyone:

FCC Ruling on what an HOA can tell you or not tell you to do

Some people read their HOA rules and it may very well state "All satellite or outdoor TV antennas prohibited." If you have been in this situation before, do not take this shit lying down. It is quite simply against federal law for them to prohibit you from installing DirecTv or any type of outdoor tv antenna. So even if they have this rule, it violates the law for them to have the rule, so whether or not they have it is irrelevant.

Anyway, I post this only because I get so sick and tired of people getting hammered by some of these HOA nazis who think they can control everything you do. Read over this page, I think you will find it very informative.

By the way, this also applies to those of you renting apartments! If you have exclusive use of your balcony and want to install a dish so it doesnt protrude over the balcony, they cannot tell you otherwise. Again it is a violation of federal law for them to prohibit it.
