Starware is a browser toolbar that adds the current temperature of your local area, price comparisons to popular travel sites, popup blocker, search options, and a reference tool. Unfortunately for most people, its just one more toolbar that forced its way onto your browser window.
For some people, the features of Starware MIGHT helpful enough to keep the toolbar, however for the rest of you these instructions should help yah remove it completely. I used Hijackthis to show the different browser helper objects and toolbars that Starware installs and how to remove them.
How to know if it's installed:
You'll notice the following toolbar in your browser if Starware is installed on your computer.
If yah run HijackThis you'll also notice the following lines that have been added:
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = http://as.starware.com/dp/search?x=wKX1ILEOi+Vh7AfA98Gm4Me69ZMbubcDyUaazwlbdhc

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {45A4902E-4479-4EAE-A186-8D0F7E4C78DE} - C:\Program Files\Starware305\bin\Starware305.dll
O3 - Toolbar: Starware305 - {9FB3908C-6565-4CB0-95F8-E9F85258723C} - C:\Program Files\Starware305\bin\Starware305.dll
Removal:
First, uninstall the Starware option from Add/Remove Programs
1) Click on Start, Settings, Control Panel
2) Double click on Add/Remove Programs
3) Find "Starware" in the list of installed programs and click on Change/Remove to uninstall it.
4) Reboot your Computer and run HijackThis
5) With HijackThis, scan for and fix any of the entries shown above that may be remaining.
6) Next, open My Computer, Drive C, and double-click on the Windows folder, then doubleclick on the Prefetch folder
7) Right-click and delete the following file:
STARWARE305UNINSTALL.EXE-37ACC76F.pf
8) Starware should now be completely uninstalled from your computer.
