Hamels is -155 vs Cook :142smilie

Cook is better than Ubaldo and Hamels is nowhere close to what Lee is.

I thought this line would be closer to -130.

If I am going to play the Rockies it will be tomorrow.

Since I know everyone will ride High Pitch Hamels.

I see :

88% on Phillies ML.
98% on Phillies RL.

Meanwhile I think Hamels is OVERRATED.

Not busting up your thread. But Hamels will pitch his ass off tomorrow, don't go crazy on your bet. The phils looked liked world champs tonight, of course I am a homer, but hamels, lefty-vs - colorado on the road....:nono:

No problem RM. I just feel tomorrow I might hammer 1st 5 Rockies. Hamels IMO is very hittable and has pitched like shit lately. So you think all of sudden he will be lights out. The guy is NOT ALL that he is talked up to be.

http://mlb.mlb.com/team/player.jsp?player_id=430935

Dude didnt pitch his ass for the entire 2009 season
he couldnt crack .500 for the year ended the season getting hammered last 3 and was 3-4 since Aug. :sadwave:

See I love YOUR thinking. We have facts here. Yet the public only wants to remember how good he was last post season. So they will bet Hamels because of that not what he has BEEN in the last 2 months of baseball.

Man, i was hammered and had just gotten home form this game when I wrote this to you. Your right, Hamels has been off his game, but I do think he will step up after the way Lee performed against them. I was at the game, and the rockies were really off their game and have been poor hitters all season against lefties and away. The Phillies meanwhile definitely stepped it up a notch. This team is very clutch and hard to bet against IMHO in a situation like this one. That being said everyone seems to be on the phillies today and I am a huge fan so... Can't wish you GL on this one, with my fightin phils playing. But GL with your other ones.

He has been bad, and is bitching about the fact that the phillies aren't prime time. 0-6 with a 5.44 ERA in nine daytime starts this year. Just would be hard to put money up against their line-up, they have done well vs cook, Cook is 1-5 with a 6.02 ERA in eight career starts against the Phillies, and a number of Philadelphia's left-handed hitters have been successful against him. Jimmy Rollins (11 for 29), Chase Utley (8 for 21) and Ryan Howard (6 for 17) all have averages above .350 when facing the sinkerballer.(this is all from espn).

Rocky

I love your Phillies to win it all again. Right now I have no feelings towards any team in these playoffs. I have learned long ago the only way to make lots of $$$ is to not be attached to a team (homer or not). That being said. I love the fact once again how everyone is on the Phillies giving Rockies no hope because historically his year they have not hit lefties. My issue is Hamels has SUCKED in his last 3 games. If he was coming off 3 big wins then all my money would be on him. BUT. Even a team who struggles against lefties can tee off on a lefty who is throwing meatballs for afternoon snack.

Sometimes

Sometimes

Certain pitchers just can pitch in the day or in a certain ballpark or verse a certain team no matter what they do.

Hamels has also struggled mightily in his nine starts during the day, going 0-6 with a 5.44 ERA.

Like Jake Peavy vs Placido Polanco as an example no matter what pitch the guy gets he owns Peavy like .700 batting avg.

I look for little nuggets.

Like Hamels just cant pitch in the day.

Come on in 4 years the dude cant win a day game.
Thats not 1 year of stats
.

Hey fellas.

Great thread you have going here. Enjoy the informative approach.

Quick Question:

I have Phillies -160 for series.

Was thinking about adding some more at -360.

Thoughts?

Philadelphia to Win Series (vs Colorado) -360

COOK
1 - 5 vs Phillies with an ERA of 6.02 and WHIP of 1.597

HAMELS
0-2 vs Rockies with an ERA of 8.70 and WHIP of 1.838

Neither pitcher has done shit against the other team. With that said, I will take the more experienced pitcher and the defending World Champions.

Line movement indicates public is also betting Philly and the OVER

Based on pitching stats head to head and Hamels daytime numbers then all signs point towards the OVER as the smartest play.
I am not sold at all that Hamels can just flip a switch because it is the post season. I watched him two starts ago vs the Astros(a team that quit a long time ago). He shut them down the first time through the order then he was hit and hit hard. The Astros came into that outing scoring 5 runs once in the last 14 games and never anything more than 4 runs in the others. After they roughed up Hammels they went to play the Mets and scored 2 runs in 3 games.
Something is off with Hamels.

My play is the OVER 9 (EVEN) for 150 wins 150.

Good luck boys.

I have no idea HOW PEOPLE WOULD BET ON HAMELS after a 7 ERA against COL last game.... Not quite a 7 ERA today BUT VERY VERY CLOSE....
\

Lets close this one out... Get 7 inn out of COOK??? If we do, even better for COL in game 3... Should be able to close the series out in COL after a win here in Philly!
