The State is reporting that Tailback Travis Giles is suspended for tomorrow's game at Alabama. The article also states that starting O-Lineman Heath Batchelor has left the team and is not listed on the travel squad.

How does this impact your team? My thoughts are it can't be good... they have both presumably been practicing with the first team all week long and then on the night before they leave to take on #2 Alabama one is suspended and one quits. It has to be a distraction, I would guess.

Thanks and ROLL TIDE!

Apparently Batchelor quit the team in mid-season last year citing personal issues. He now says he has lost interest in the game. Junior Jarriel King, a converted tackle who started 11 games last year, is expected to start in Batchelor's place (doesn't seem to be that big a loss if a guy who started all of last season can fill in).

Not a cock fan by any stretch ( :mj07: ), but I follow them closely. This year they have been good to me, but that 17 smells like a push to me. 27-10 is screaming at me.

LeCorn hasn't been much of a factor this year, but is a physical guy who can block downfield. He has prob been in on 15% of the plays.

The Batchelor kid seems to be a headcase and isn't very good, at least lately. They are talking about burning a redshirt to back up King. King is very good and has been supplanted at tackle by another solid kid. Their line won't see a dropoff.

Giles is a scatty kind of back, but their backfield is very deep with young, scatty backs. Miles is the one to watch out for. He will be good. Maddox is a bruiser but nothing special.

I think the cocks will hang for a bit, and the longer you let them hang, the worse for the Tide. However, I don't think they will be able to stop your running game, and I see this one at 14 or 17 to 3 at half, and I just don't think Spur can get enough against that D to mount a comeback.

USC sucks...Bama will punch them in the mouth and hurt some feelings. Cupcake time is over for USC and they will probably win 1 more game, maybe 2 the rest of the season.

I do not think any of this will matter RollTide72 as Garcia is probably going to spend the majority of his day on the turf. Bama will pressure him into mistakes and turnovers. Just an Auburn guys opinion:shrug:

Even tho they won last week, I wasn't impressed with SC...but maybe they just had a bad game? Ky ran for over 200yds on them and shut their running game down fairly well. And their first 2 TD's were set up by 60yd kick-off returns that Ky allowed. They do have an excellent, physical-type receiver (at least 1) that can really hurt ya in the red zone. Maybe they were just playing possum for Bama..but think the best part of their season is over (as stated in an other reply).

Should add 1 thing...think one key to having success with SC's D is negating Norwood somewhat...because he is a force. Ky was able to do that because they have an excellent blocking fullback.

Ellis Johnson's D almost always steps up and plays well in big games. Hard for me to believe this game is blowout. (but I do live in Gamecock country).
