Hey Eric... any concern with Schilling going on short rest. I'm figuring you don't have any based on your play, but I was just curious. Knowing you coached college ball I wanted your insight. The media is making such a big deal about it, because of all the recent failures, but SCHILLING is a horse, has always been that way, and I can't see him being effected, especially after only throwing 102 last time out.

no a pitcher can tell the next day durning his 45 foot session and long toss if he would be able to throw on 3 days rest or not and schilling had no trouble with that,he does'nt put alot of tork on his arm as johnson does, most of his comes through leg drive and good mechanics,he is almost spotless when it comes to this, thats why he really never gets a dead are in the season, the extra 24 means nothing to him. over the long run it could take a toll but doing it for a week and a half will not bother him at all. people make a big deal out of this and stats and pitch count,if you have ever played in the ncaa regionals or one of the colege ws which i have coached and played in the juco,dII and dI you have pitchers that throw 80-100+ pitches up to 3 times a week and some short men throwing every day if you fall into losers bracket,so don't buy into everything a sports reporter might talk about.the arm isnot the worry to me when something like this comes up it's the legs that i watch for.

great insight fletch, the legs are the key, which is also why you have that 20 minute jog the next day so you relieve the lactic acid build-up.
