Has no one started a thread about this yet?

My question is I can't see why a disruption to 2% of the world's oil supply could result in a 20% increase in the price of oil.
Supply and demand my @ss. Price gouging at its finest.

As a medical rep I am on the road 90% of my day.

55 bucks to fill a 16 gallon tank is ridiculous! Ive filled up three times this week already.

And the oil companies are laughing all the way to the bank:facepalm:

Check the record profits made by our oil companies and tell me how that is not gouging. Why do we blame the Saudies?

Amazing how naive people can be. It as if on these dips the companies didn't care about profit then boom--imagine they didn't care about profits when gas was 1.61 a gal- dec 2008. :)

--and it never fails those that were the ones voting for those wanting to impose 50 cent gas tax and now whine the loudest about the price.

Per your profit allegation--
Who profits more on gallon of gas --oil companies or the government? :0003

Why did the oil prices drop dramatically during Bush's last few years, but as soon as Obama has taken over, they have been on a steady climb upward????

"the bunker"
no problem...just use the "alternative" energy this administration has promised..

i mean, that`s why we aren`t drilling and mining oil shale and coal and natural gas and building nuclear reactors...they couldn`t be stupid enough to stop us from utilizing our own resources without a contingency plan...could they?...

what`s that?...we don`t have any alternative energy yet?....well,just slap that mini-wind turbine on the back of your honda....:0002

it`s amazingly stupid and short sighted...work on all the "alternative" crap WHILE you`re utilizing all your own resources....we need jobs....we need manufacturing...

so lets get to work helping ourselves......do it all....put people back to work utilizing what we have while working on an alternative...while helping ourselves...

it`s not that freaking hard(that is if you` aren`t so far up the environmentalist`s ass you can smell their shampoo)

and btw....i wonder what gas would be if the feds and state governments rolled back some of the gas taxes?....

make a huge difference..but nooooooo...they want to use up our reserves...with no plan to replenish them....

you think it`s bad now?....the middle eastern collapse/ riots just started in saudi arabia today.....

the royals in the saudi kingdom go down, and you`ll be waiting in gas lines just like we did several decades back...x 10..if you`re lucky...

and yet,we refuse to access our own resources....

why?..because this is our government`s plan.....this is cap and trade....their hope is that if we restrict enough supply, the price will increase, and we can then simply shift to cleaner, less costly environmentally friendly alternatives..

but, theres a catch.....theres no fricking new technology right now to implement...no underpinning...no infrastructure....

no alternative....

how can we hang ourselves out to dry like this?...

it`s unbelievable...:banghead:

Plain City OH
UNTIL the jack-rabbit starts and 78 MPH driving and drivers RAMMING around me on the right side to hammer thier BMW/Lexus/ESCLADE/PRIUS/Audi/Lincoln, into the left turn lanes in front of me while I am COASTING up to a RED LIGHT, then watching them SLAM on the brakes, eating up the same $90 brake pad lining that they bitch about in the service drive stops, I have to turn a deaf ear to the whining about $3.60 to $4.20 cent per gallon gasoline everyone is crying about:nono:

I have to buy it also, but get the F/U looks and one finger salute on the interstate for trying to save MPG by driving 60-62 MPH the speed my truck gets it's best or at least close to best MPG.

We pay 46.4 cents federal and state excise tax here in OHIO, and my earned dollar is about 81 cents of take home dollar, so you do the math:director:

The mayor of CBus is pissed because BOB EVANS corporate is moving out of the city and the county, but he forgot he is the one who cryed the loudest about needing a 25% increase in city income tax.:sadwave:

Seroiusly why do 90% of you accelerate into the middle of the block and then brake the rest of the block?

Time the lights, drive with some common sense and air up your tires, switch to synthetic oil, replace that dirty air filter, coast, leave 3 to 6 minutes earlier and save a couple of gallons a month depending on how much you drive.

Google Hypermile and you get even some more tips:0008

Right behind you
and yet,we refuse to access our own resources....

Here's an interesting lil factoid for you to ponder.

Our newest and largest discovery is in Western ND, and they're drilling like crazy, but...there are no pipelines from ND to the refineries on the Gulf Coast. The nearest pipeline ends in the boonies of Oklahoma and there aren't enough trucks and rail tankers.

So, what do the big TX refineries do? They buy mideast and S. American oil off tankers.

Someone needs to build a pipeline from OK to the TX coast.

What about you capitalists? Up for the job? doggie, Maggot, Weasel? :mj07: :mj07: :mj07: :mj07:

The thought of you capitalists actually building something is hilarious.

For fuck's sake, Mags, can you even read a chart? It clearly shows gas prices over $4 a gallon in the summer of 2008. Do you not remember how gas prices in 2008 killed the SUV market and sent GM and Chrysler into bankruptcy?

You just embarrass yourself with your desperate attempts to blame all of the world's problems on one man. You've become a parody of yourself.

Neither.

As with everything else, Wall Street does. The recent spike in oil prices is a direct result of speculators predicting a supply disruption down the road as a result of the situation in Libya.

Yeah, "people" sure can be naive, Dawgs. :0003

Let me make this simple for you. And I don't care who the President is. If a company is making record profits while raising their prices to historic highs then something is askew.

As President, the Neocon Bush did nothing about it and let the country crash. Coming down the hardest on the Middle Class. (Is anyone surprised at this point)

Now, let's see what his Neocon buddy Obama does about it.
