Series history: George Washington leads 17-15. The Flyers lost 65-64 in overtime last season in Washington, D.C. Joe McDonald made the game-winning shot at the buzzer. He grabbed an offensive rebound after Pierre blocked a shot and scored as time expired. A 3-pointer by Kyle Davis gave the Flyers the lead with 6.6 seconds to go. The Colonials have lost six straight games at UD Arena.

About Dayton: Junior forward Charles Cooke?s status is day to day. He strained an oblique muscle in practice Monday and did not play Tuesday. ? Darrell Davis moved into the starting lineup for the first time in place of center Steve McElvene on Tuesday. ? Dayton and George Washington are tied with St. Joseph?s (13-3, 3-1) for third place in the Atlantic 10. Virginia Commonwealth (12-5) and St. Bonaventure (12-3) are 4-0.

About GW: McDonald, a senior guard, averages 7.9 points per game off the bench. ? George Washington ranks 31st in the RPI. Its best victory came against Virginia, which ranks 7th in the RPI. It also beat No. 53 Seton Hall. It suffered its worst loss on the road in A-10 play, 65-62 on Jan. 6 at No. 192 Saint Louis. ? The Wake Forest transfer Cavanaugh leads the team with 22 3-pointers. ? The team ranks second in the A-10 in free-throw percentage (76.6).

Archie Miller on GW: ?They?re as inside-oriented as any team we?ve ever seen. Kevin Larsen is a great player. So is Cavanaugh. Then they have some veterans: Garino and Joe out there on the perimeter. They change their defenses. They get up after you. They kill the glass. It?s going to be a physical game. We?re going to have to have match their toughness. The big deal is, ?Can we function on offense without turning the ball over and handle the 1-3-1?? and the unnecessary fouling with the ball going inside is going to be difficult for us.?

The Atlantic 10's top two teams in the RPI rankings will meet on Friday night when the University of Dayton Flyers play host to the George Washington Colonials. Dayton is 13th in the latest RPI report, while GW comes in at number 30. A-10 fans will be able to catch the game on ESPN2 as not to miss a moment of this highly anticipated conference game.

The Flyers feature a balanced attack with four double-figure scorers -- Charles Cooke (15.70, Kendall Pollard (11.6), Dyshawn Pierre (10.8) and Scoochie Smith (10.6). Cooke missed the Davidson win with a strained oblique and is currently listed day-to-day.

GW enters the game leading the A-10 with 14 wins on the season and sits a game out of first place in the league standings at 3-1.

Tyler Cavanaugh and Kevin Larsen have formed one of the best frontcourts in the Atlantic 10 as the pair is combining for 29.1 ppg and 15.3 rpg. Cavanaugh is coming off a 30-point outing vs. Duquesne and a 26-point night at UMass. In four A-10 games he is averaging 22.0 points which ranks third in the league. Larsen, meanwhile, is tied for the lead league with five double-doubles, including a 25-point, 11-rebound night vs. Duquesne last Saturday.

Patricio Garino is contributing 12.4 points per game and ranks fifth in the league in 3-point percentage (.447). The senior knocked down 3-of-5 triples in the win at UMass to finish with 17 points.

The Colonials will need all three in facing a difficult test at Dayton. GW won the lone meeting last year, as Joe McDonald scored a game-winning putback to lift GW to a 65-64 overtime win at the Charles E. Smith Center. McDonald scored a game-high 19 in that win, though the senior missed Tuesday's game at UMass with an eye injury.
