Staten, though, rolled an ankle with 11:45 remaining in Thursday's loss to Texas in the Big 12 Tournament. He left the game and did not return. He's been receiving regular treatment, but Huggins said the Big 12's leading scorer didn't practice Sunday.
"There's no swelling," Huggins said, "but other than that, I don't know."
The Mountaineers would rather have Staten, of course, and not because of his scoring and the fact he led the Big 12 in assists, made the league's all-defense team and set a conference record for minutes played in Big 12 games. Staten is pretty much the only one who Huggins fully trusts to handle the ball and get the team into its offense.
