Right behind you
I think it is cool to be dependent on foreign oil. Being at the mercy of OPEC is great.

Some people don't fucking get it.

But some do. I hear those Arabs are big into homo anal.

Mark Foley, Larry Craig, and many other neocons get it, just they way they like it - hard, deep and dry from some two-bit Sheik.

I think its funny everytime gas is about to go up

the Arabs report that their oil fields have been underestimated by 40%

Who the fawk can even estimate that chit.

They are lieing rat bastids anyway.

They are worried about alternative fuel vehicles but they will continue to make a killing off gas for 40 more years easy.

They better be more worried about the ppl taking them over, throwing out the Kings, and using the money for the countrys good.

We would be much better off in my opinion.

Ok, here's a question: if Obama can limit profits with the insurance industry and financial industry, why can't he do it with big oil?

I realize they are not US based - but he could put price limits at gas stations (like he is doing in insurance basically) and not allow more than x% for profit/marketing, etc.

INDIRECTLY, he can control the oil market - as if the US stop buyin', there wouldn't be much of a market.

Why doesn't he put in price controls on gas prices? I think this affects the family budget much more than health insurance - and gas prices can increase much faster than insurance - with no regulation???

I'm sure Obama can do this... Yes he can!

He cant because the guys u vote for would stop him in his tracks. Demand 60 votes. Wash, rinse, and repeat when it comes to profit. Especially profits for big oil.

Just look back over history and you'll see.

It was when if a company was ran itself into the ground they were gone and the productive took their place. The gov didn't dictate results

If a product survied or flourished it was because of its own merits not because the gov paid people to buy it.

Paying people 2 years not to work--weren't considered solutions to unemployment

--above or just tip of iceburg on gov thinking solution to everything is throwing money at it vs fixing the cause. People came here because it was land of opportunity--and they could flourish on their own merits and not have gov try and dictate winners and losers.

The consequences/results are/were quite predictible--

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/02/14/budget-reality-checks/

Three Budget Reality Checks

Obama?s first budget (title: ?A New Era of Responsibility?)
---forecast a 1.2 percent reduction in gross domestic product with an 8.1 percent unemployment rate for 2009. The reality was a 2.6 percent contraction of the nation?s economy and 9.3 percent unemployment. For 2010, Obama?s plan relied on 3.2 percent growth and 7.9 percent unemployment. The current estimate of last year?s growth rate is 2.9 percent with an annual unemployment rate of 9.6 percent.
And so it goes with deficits, too. Obama called for $1.17 trillion in deficit spending for the fiscal year beginning in October 2009, but the actual cost overrun was $1.29 trillion. For the current fiscal year, the president?s plan called for $1.27 trillion in deficit spending. The plan out today will say that the final number will be more like $1.65 trillion.

U.S. Administration Outlines Rebates For Electric Cars
By Ryan Tracy

Published February 08, 2011
| Dow Jones Newswires

WASHINGTON -(Dow Jones)- The Obama administration outlined a rebate Tuesday that would be available to buyers of electric cars at the point of sale, reducing the sticker price by up to $7,500.

Shares of Tesla Motors, Inc. (TSLA: 22.88, -0.18, -0.78%), the electric car maker backed by Toyota Motor Corp. (TM, 7203.TO) jumped more than 6% Tuesday, to $24.49. Battery maker A123 Systems, Inc. (AONE: 9.75, -0.49, -4.79%) also saw shares jump more than 6%, to $9.92.

Some details of the proposal, including when rebates would be available and whether the rebates would be capped, remained unclear. David Sandalow, DOE's assistant secretary for policy and international affairs, said details would have to be worked out in Congress.

Companies like General Motors Inc. (GM: 36.08, -0.21, -0.58%) and Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. (NSANY, 7201.TO) that already have electric cars on the market are in good position to take advantage of the government incentive, particularly if Congress places a cap on the rebates, said Jesse Torpak, an auto analyst for TrueCar.com.

INTERESTED IN

"That's the kind of math you need to bring electric vehicles to the masses," Torpak said.

In a little more than two years, Tesla Motors has sold about 1,600 cars worldwide.

In the U.S., the Nissan Leaf and GM's Chevrolet Volt, which just went on sale in December, are only beginning to trickle into the market. GM has sold 647 Volts over the past two months in the U.S. Nissan has delivered 97 Leafs over that period.

Sandalow said the administration's proposal was part of a strategy to support electric vehicle manufacturing. In a statement, he said more electric vehicles on the road "represents a key component of our strategy to reduce America's dependence on foreign oil and ensure that the U.S. leads the world in the growing electric vehicle manufacturing industry."

The administration announced the rebate initiative last month.

President Barack Obama has set a goal of putting one million electrical vehicles on the road by 2015. A DOE report released Tuesday said that goal is ambitious, but achievable.

DOE also said the administration will propose giving grants to 30 communities to invest in infrastructure for electrical vehicles. In addition, the agency said the president's upcoming budget proposal will include further investments in research and development for electric vehicle components, including batteries.

So please explain what difference it makes to Joe Taxpayer whether the Obama Administration offers $7500 tax credits or $7500 (POS) tax rebates.

And while we're on the subject, you've yet to explain why you're suddenly so stupefied by the kind of tax incentives that have been around since 2005.

Btw... unless you feel the need to let others know when you're yelling at your monitor, there's no need to use big bolded letters in caps. I can read standard text just fine.
