GMan, Ohio St.-Stamford?

You have more local info on this than I do out here in OZ. I always like to look at small conf. teams playing at big conf. venues as a play against the smaller con. teams. Ohio St. @
-11 1/2 caught my attention when looking at opening lines.
I see Ohio St. is 0-6 ATS but Stamford is no great shake at 2-3
and this has to be way out of their comfort zone. Lost by 20 @
So. Miss in front of maybe 3000 crowd. Thanks bud, ever hear from Chucky? I haven't lately.

dont really have an opinion on the game but:

*like you said, osu at 0-6 ATS is worth a look as number clearly reflects their struggles and theres value there. bucks were laying 11 last weekend to virginia tech. hokies not a great team, but better than samford

*buckeyes DID control that virginia tech game from start to finish. final score shows just a 62-57 win but had the lead out to 18 at various points throughout the game. led 40-24 at halftime and then got outscore 33-22 in 2h.

*it looks like samford is bricklayin team from the line. just 53% from the line. that will kill you on the road. bucks unfortunately not much better at just over 60%.

*in retrospect, not as surprised as i was before to see ohio state struggle out of the gate. their two best players are transfers, so theyre not quite a cohesive unit. gonna take some time. it looked like the virginia tech game last saturday was finally gonna be the breakout game for ohio state. but they pissed away the 18 points leads and let the hokies make it respectable. that probably adds some value and lessens the number that osu is laying this saturday, but not a good sign that they couldnt close out the game in better fashion

theres some other guys on this forum whose proximity to columbus might be of help in terms of capping this game. (anyone feel free to add anything)

(also, re: chucky, he still pops in here from time to time. ive many times tried to acquire his opinions and thoughts on some games. just seems hes not as into capping the games as he used to be, and i dont want to bug him sometimes. but hes around every now and then)

I follow this team very closely and advised the forum before the season started that Ohio State is going to make people some money this season if they fade away in the early part of the season....with the exception when I got suckered in by a funny line against Georgia Tech, I have gone 5-1 on Buckeye games this year.....

I cannot put my money on this team until they prove to me otherwise for a couple of reasons......

1.) Tony Stockman is a lazy ass. He was at Clemson and why O'Brien took a shot on him I will never know....it is not the kind of player he likes, not matter how good you are on offense.

2.) They shoot free throws like hell.

3.) Brandon Fuss-Cheetham has the "yips" He has no confidence in shooting the ball and he has to be part of the rotation because of his ball handling skills. He is a liability to be on the floor because he cannot make free throws. I think Vin Baker had something like this a few years back for the SuperSonics......Brandon will maybe work his way out of this but for now...a liability.

4.) The home crowd is lame. For a football stadium that is as intimidating as any in the country.....the basketball games are lame. The student section is a joke. Ohio State football fans are through and through....the basketball fans are fair weather fans. Dont look for a real pumped up crowd today especially against Samford....it will be pretty bare in there. Not much of an advantage.

So I know it is just Samford.....but I cannot trust this team with this many points against any team.

If you took them already good luck...I hope the Buckeyes get it straightened out, but until they do....I am either betting against or not at all.
