ohio just needs to realize that they 'are what they are' -- and thats a run-first football team. for some inexplicable reason, they go through stretches in some games where they try to make austin everson into a passing quarterback and that is when OU starts shitting themselves and making mistakes. they have one of the mac's best backs in mcrae but they seem to forget that sometimes. the good news is that the lightbulb went on last week for OU. against western michigan they established the run first, and ~~~ voila, they dominated the football game. everson only threw 16 times, while mcrae had 100+ on the ground and ohio averaged 7+ yards per rush.

the toledo line is crazy. preseason, toledo is probably laying 10 points on the road here. some might say that lines cant swing that much in the course of a month and a half, but there is no doubt in my mind if this game is week 1, toledo is favored by minimum 10 on the road. kent is vastly improved and playing incredibly confident football right now. but this is a strange line. toledo absolutely self-destructed last week with personal fouls (5) and penalties (well over 100 yards). the toledo offense moved the ball very well behind opelt in his first start. they put up nearly 500 yards of total offense. but toledo's lack of composure was alarming. they are the better overall football team, but they arent playing like it right now and kent state is playing better than any team in the conference.

ball state's defense is atrocious and i couldnt trust them on the road against a cmich team that is contending in the west. dont really want any part of cmich in this spot but i do think its cmich or pass. nothing about ball state is appealing. they have some young playmakers on offense but theyre still a horrible football team with a horrible defense. not sure its worth the aggravation of asking them to cover.

the bowling green game is a tough game to cap a side. both teams are getting back to full strength. bg has a very promising backfield with turner/barnes/bullock. to start the season, macon was getting the running back carries and he isnt capable of big plays. bullock is young but he runs hard and is going to be a big asset to the offense. emich has been godawful this year but they have been decimated by injuries through the first few weeks. their bye week came at the perfect time. there are some things favoring emu here; however, bg is capable of blowing this team out. they responded well from their home embarrassment against kent state by beating ohio on the road and then doing a lot of good things against ohio state on saturday.

g,
I'm laying the chalk with CMU and BG and playing Toledo/Kent over 46. This might make me look like square but the MAC is crazy this year. I do know this: Toledo can't defend but can score, EMU traditionally gags in games where they can begin to establish so kind of credibility and CMU is a team that is getting better and better each week (which was expected when Kelly took over).
