I'm playing OVER 7 runs in this contest. Both teams have gone OVER in their last 4 games & in 5 of their last 7 overall. My reports indicated a pretty healthy wind blowing out toward left field & I think one of these starters gets "Lit-Up" this afternoon. In addition, both Bullpens have been shaky @ best in this series. Good Luck, have fun & drink one or three for me!!!

Kansas City area for who knows how long....
Liriano's rehab stint exhibited command and velocity reminiscent of last season, not his starts of this season (tho his FIP is 4.01).

He is healthy for the first time this season, seems an essentially fresh arm now. Cinci not good vs lefties, and missing some key offense too (ones that generated Liriano's 0-3 with a 5.19 ERA in three career starts in Cincinnati.)

I am taking Pitt for the value, tho was much better value yesterday (+140)

Cueto hasn't been quite as dominating his last 3 starts as earlier in season.

some info cut and pasted from the internets:

Liriano wound up missing a month with a strained left oblique. He made a dominant rehab start Monday at Triple-A Indianapolis, fanning eight batters and allowing only three hits over six scoreless innings.

Liriano, 30, has a 4.60 ERA after 14 starts this season, but the Pirates will be hoping for improved results now that he's fully healthy. Last season, Liriano finished ninth in the NL Cy Young balloting on the strength of a 118 ERA+ in 161 innings of work.

Liriano will make his first start since June 10 when he takes the hill, and he'll be going into a favorable matchup. The Reds rank 23rd in OPS against left-handers in all of baseball with a .690 mark. It will be difficult for Cincinnati to get going against Liriano with the ninth-best defensive team in efficiency backing up the left-hander. Additionally, Liriano's current 4.60 ERA doesn't reflect his peripherals, as his FIP rests at 4.01. As a result, he could send his ERA into the 3s with a quality outing.

"He's excited. I haven't seen this big a smile on his face in quite some time," manager Clint Hurdle said. "I think it's more about the fact that he actually feels really healthy."

Liriano said his rehabilitation start with Indianapolis served its purpose and gave him confidence that his oblique is healed.

He struck out eight in six shutout innings, retired the final 15 batters he faced and threw his slider and changeup along with his fastball.

"Everything went well. Was throwing more strikes and physically, nothing bothered me at all," Liriano said. "Healthy and so far, so good. Went down there, got some innings in. Feel great and ready to go."

Ryan Palencer on Jul 8, 2014:

After allowing three hard hits in a row, Francisco Liriano settled down and was dominant in Monday?s rehab appearance with Triple-A Indianapolis.

In six shutout innings, Liriano allowed just three hits, while striking out eight, including six of the last seven to finish the outing. He also did not walk a batter.

?Everything felt good,? Liriano said. ?It is really good to be back.?

His fastball was sitting between 93-95, while his slider and changeup were between 85-86. Liriano allowed three hard hit balls in a row after retiring the first two hitters easily. A line drive single was followed by a double to each gap. On the first double, the base runner was thrown out at the plate to end the first inning.

Much of the negative result was due to Liriano elevating the fastball early in the outing. Though the ball did stay elevated in those first two innings, he was very pitch efficient.

?The last time out was simulated and this time out was real hitters,? Indianapolis pitching coach Tom Filer said. ?It got his adrenaline flowing a little bit and inactivity kind of led to some pitches up in the zone.?

Liriano was set to throw either 85 pitches or six innings. He made it to the latter, throwing 76 pitches and 53 strikes.

?I was working on throwing more fastballs and working with the fastball,? Liriano said. ?In the second, I started working on other pitches. The changeup and the slider were working good.?

After the three hits, Liriano settled down and retired 15 hitters in a row after the first hitter in the second. However, the first two batters in the fourth each coaxed at least a 2-0 count, with the leadoff hitter getting to 3-0. The final hitter of the fourth, he struck out on three pitches. This was the first of the run of strikeouts.

Catcher Tony Sanchez was impressed with how quickly Liriano was able to get into a flow.

?You usually don?t see a guy settle into a game that early, but Frankie did that and that?s why he?s one of the best,? Sanchez said. ?His fastball commanded both side of the plate extremely well. That?s the most movement I?ve seen on his changeup in the past two years that I?ve caught him.?

Other than the strikeouts, Liriano forced four fly ball outs with three ground ball outs.
