Todays paper...QB Gooch who was opennly unhappy with coaching change is considering baseball.....TU has no baseball program, across city ORU does...if he leaves Tulsa is Fu##ed! Already thin
in talent ,his leaving would be major blow to program and first year coach Kragthorpe....think they open at Minnesota, then Arkansas....they could not stop run, and think that continues...
it will be ugly....

Gooch to O U for baseball

Gooch to O U for baseball

Official today...backup is Junior James Killian who played one game
last year when Gooch was hurt, and some redshirts...
Kragenthorp was QB coach at Buffalo NFL, I believe....Saw Game
with Killian he has fair arm,not very mobile, let see what Coach K comes up with.
The timing for this is horrible...TU is also looking at affiliations with more regional implications ( Travel cost reduction) " a new SW conference....TU SMU UTEP
Louisiana Tech, Rice, Houston,North Texas,TCU,Tulane is being
mentioned...whether it happens, who knows?

thanks for the info. What's their offensive line look like this year. Without a mobile qb, could get ugly, I think Minny will be better this year

In my estimation, Tulsa has some good size and strength along the front 5 and although the O-line has some new faces, it could be the relative strength (and I stress relative) of this team. Aldabra is right, Killian is a pocket passer, very opposite of Gooch, but new coach likes him. Very good arm.

Tulsa's D-line is going to be a major concern, but the secondary will be better. Kragthorpe is going to use a 3-3-5 formation extensively, at least in conference play, to take advantage of his athletes in the secondary. You will see a safety cheat up vs the run.

Minnesota has all its offensive skill players back from a bowl season and has lots of depth at RB. If the defense is better than it was last year (32 ppg allowed in league play), it could be a good season, particularly since they do not play Purdue or Ohio State.

I expect Minnesota to be a 28-30 point favorite, since they play so well at home. The O/U will be in the low 50's, and if Minnesota's defense shows up, it will go under that total, say 38-10.....but if Tulsa can score some points, it will probably go over.
