I have been betting football for about 15 years. The "worst-beat" I can remember and reference to others at times is when I was on the Houston Oilers +2' in 1993 vs. the Buffalo Bills when they were winning the game 35-3 in the 3rd Quarter and managed to lose both the game and the spread by the tally of 41-38. Frank Reich was the Billy QB, thus, the Ghost of Frank Reich.

Over the years (sometimes weekly) it seems you lose a game in an amazing way but NEVER EVER one as haunting as the Frank Reich Game. Late kneel downs, dropped passes, fumbles, even the dreaded 6-pointer TD in OT when you were the Dog at +4, none ever as bad as the Frank Reich Game. I, as others on the wrong side that day, felt we would never ever cancel this one ot with an equally stunning "W".........UNTIL YESTERDAY!!!

I worked on Friday and was tied-up in meetings and forgot to call in on UCLA vs. Northwestern. Believe it or not, I was gonna go UNDER 74 and UNDERS are usually a 1 in 10 Total bet for me as I tend to play OVER waaaayyyy to much. When I do play an UNDER it usually losses. Non the less, I missed the play (GLAD I DID). I got home at Half-time to see 29-22 on the board.........Call the man.........I proceed to pound (and post in the forum) both UCLA -3 and the OVER 36'.

Brutal 2nd half with only 10 points scored (7 by UCLA) in 26 minutes of play and I am staring at a split....Hold on UCLA Please!!! With less than 3 minutes to go I watch Northwestern who had 3 or 4 previous 3-and-out possessions literally walk down the field and kick me in the throat (score a TD) and hand me the dreaded double loss.

The next 2:24 was like something out of a Twilight Zone: U-C-L-A Touchdown - 44-yard kickoff return by Brandon Breazell. (Brian Malette kick). 2:24 Remaining. Northwestern Touchdown - 5-yard pass from Brett Basanez to Shaun Herbert. (Amado Villarreal kick). 0:23 Remaining. U-C-L-A Touchdown - 45-yard kickoff return by Brandon Breazell. (Jimmy Rotstein kick). 0:17 Remaining.

Not only does the side win but the 2nd-Half goes OVER comes in. I would say this double cover finally puts and end and lays to rest the Ghost of Frank Reich. Yes 12 years later I can finally quit whinning about my Oilers loss that day and just say to other spports gammers I meet......"Yes, I have had some bad Beats but also some equally lucky Wins!'

Tuchee Frank Reich

P/S _ Didnt mean to piss anyone off who was on the worng end of the 4th Quarter fiasco above but I just had to post this for kicks to those who can relate. Good Luck to all the remainder of the Bowl Bonanza.

tell you what, lol, that UCLA second half cover was an amazing thing, and I was on it as well. I thought I had the miracle cover when Brazel ran in the first onside kick, but then NW marched down and scored again, so I knew with .23 seconds left that we were going to have a few kneel-downs and game over. Then, Brazel did it again as NW ran the same exact onside kick play. Unreal! Congrats on your wins.
