Both managers have a history of out-guessing themselves on pitcher/hitter matchups, using multiple relievers for one batter only. Both pitchers if "on" can be expected to go 7, however, so if they do go 7, the question is whether 6 or 7 more relievers will enter the picture in a total of 12 outs (barring extra inngs.) You know that you'll get at least 3 more: a setup man for the closer of whichever team is ahead, then the closer; and a reliever for the team behind. The minumum is thus 5 pitchers. So, 3 or less after that scenario wins the bet. Take a look at how many pitchers the cards/gnats have used in each of their prior games to get a better handle on this one. Cards going w/ 12 pitchers, I think, meaning LaRussa more likely to use more relievers.
