St Joes @ Villanova 8pm EST
Any way I look at this game --I see St Joes going down tonight hard.
Nova has covered 4 out of the last 5 times these teams have played why? The dupont pavilion is not the Palestra, McGonigle Hall (temple) or the St joes fieldhouse. Its a tough place to play and hit the outside jumper.
as discussed on this forum St Joes has absolutely no inside game exc for Dwayne Jones who shoots free throws like Shaq. He will be overworked all night dealing w/ the nova bigmen . i see lots of fouls for him and one and done for Stjoes shooters.
Nova is deep and plays good defense and rebounds very well. they will not be playing a match up zone like temple. They will be running Nardi, Foye, Snowden, Ray and Sheridan on Nelson and West man to man all night . Thats 4 against 2. Raye and Foye are as athletic as west and nelson. No second shots b/c of Fraser and Sumpter.
As many of you know nova had a tough start to the season based on some suspensions. i saw the early games lots and lots of turnovers. They seem to have corrected that over the last 2 weeks and htting the outside shots.
No question ST joes has been on a tear but unless Carroll has a huge game St Joes has no shot to cover the 7.5
I see a very vry very tight game coming down to the last shot which makes me love Nove in this spot and put a little down on the +ML
