Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops said he expects to announce Tuesday whether surgery will be needed for All-American tight end Jermaine Gresham, who sustained cartilage damage to his right knee during practice last week.

?We?re waiting on one more (doctor?s) opinion,? Stoops said. ?Then we?ll have some type of answer.?

During Monday's practice, Brody Eldridge worked more at tight end than center, where he started Saturday vs. Brigham Young. Ben Habern took the majority of the practice snaps at center with the first team at center.

OU TE Gresham out for season
Norman, OK

Oklahoma tight end Jermaine Gresham underwent season-ending surgery on Tuesday after an arthroscopic procedure revealed damage in his knee.

"We feel badly for Jermaine," said Sooners head coach Bob Stoops. "He worked very hard and very selflessly to get himself ready for the season. We share in the disappointment he is experiencing now and will do everything we can to help him in his rehab efforts."

Gresham was hurt in practice last week before the season-opening loss to BYU. The 14-13 setback, in which quarterback Sam Bradford was injured, dropped the Sooners from third in the poll to 13th.

Last season, Gresham caught 66 passes for 950 yards and a team-high 14 touchdowns. He was a projected first-round pick in the draft but decided to come back for his senior season.
