Upstairs watching sports on the big TV.
I fondly remember the giddy feeling watching "Star Wars" circa 1977...it was awe inspiring and inspired generations.

Guardians is certainly no Star Wars...

Plodding and predictable, the hero is an alien abducted child of Earth, named Peter.
30 years later as a space adventurer,( Peter has a fondness for seventies music), he has located a highly sought after alien wonder "orb"
gadget.

Other's are looking for him and the gadget (there is also a bounty on him)

Peter, the bounty hunters,( Racoon and Tree) along with a green skinned alien gal end up in prison, hook up with a muscle head, bond, escape, fight bad guys who want the "orb" gadget to destroy a planet, good guys predictably save the day....

Lots of space battles happens in between, some lost to me, I nodded off...more than once.

The audience consisted mostly of families...very spotty positive crowd reaction....

And joy of joys...a sequel will be in the offing.

On a scale of 1-10, Original Star Wars being 10; I gave it a 4....Special Effects and Imagery were good.

I am probably slightly biased, grew up on DC comics, Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, Aquaman, Flash....lots of the Marvel franchise is lost on me, never really got into it as a youth.
