It was not a pretty win for Bucky...
But it was a WIN - and 10-1 for the year...
They had EVERY reason to lose this game:
1. Starting a QB that had never started a game in his career, and only thrown 8 passes this year
2. They had lost 4 straight to Iowa, and have always struggled against them
3. They went against coaching legend Kirk Ferentz, who was sure to have his guys up on Senior day, as any coaching legend would
4. Badgers have a rookie head coach
4. They played at Iowa, which is a very difficult place to play
5. They had everything to lose, being a one loss team with a good ranking...
Yet, Bret Bielema put together a great game plan with Donovan starting. He found a way to win.
He is a great coach, and this is a very good team. Probably not good enough to play in the final game, but they certainly should be in the discussion with the other 1 loss teams.
Bielema should be in the coach of the year discussion, taking an unranked team to 10-1 (and ultimately 11-1). He probably won't get it, due to the year Rutgers is having, but he should certainly get votes.
Way to go Bucky!
