I want to by my wife a car/suv, but here's our situation:

We are newly empty-nesters. She has always driven a Suburban, Van, etc. because she was taking kids all over the place.
Well, that life is over and I want to finally get her something special, I mean really special!

She has test-driven a BMW X5, Lexus ?300 suv, Infinity SUV, the new one that looks wierd, and the Infinity ?56 SUV.

She is really a great lady, we've been married 24 years and she has never demanded anything special,,this is all my idea, now.

Any ideas are appreciated.

She probably can't decide

She probably can't decide

On all of those nice luxury cars/SUVs SO I would take her with you to a few dealerships and when you find the one that suits you the best, and the one you think she would be most comfortable with go ahead and purchase it. My preference would be the BMW or the Lexus, both put out really nice cars. However, the best way is taking her with you.

big joe,

i highly recommend the volvo xc90, which i have been driving for the past 2 months.

i have road tested all of the suv's that you listed & while they are nice, the xc90 is, imo the best suv out there. the look is nicer & as edmunds.com noted the xc90 is like driving a vault. it is that safe.

do yourself a favor & look into it before you settle on anything.

good luck

Big Joe,

Here are several thigns you should consider...

1. Is there a price range that your looking at?

2. Is safety a priority?

3. Do accesories and options have any weight in your decision?

4. Are you worried about insurance costs?

If I were you unless you really want to surprise her, take her along with you when you're looking at the vehicles. Make sure you do your research and take your time in making a decision. All the vehicles listed are great SUV's. Is size a factor? Those that you listed are mid-size suv's, personally if size wasn't a factor, I'd purchase the Cadillac Escalade or the Lincoln Navigator.

In terms of a WELL rounded SUV, as AR182 mentioned take a look at VOLVO.

If you have any further questions please post them

cheers

Thanks alot guys! You know, I forgot about the Volvo, I will check that one out,,it sure looks good on the road, what a great job by Volvo when the designed that one. Originally, the Volvo was out because of the stereo-type of conservatives all buckled up and driving exactly the speed-limit, lol.
You know, it's about time she has something that makes her feel good,,for her.
I will take her with me, doesn't have to be a surprise.
Dr. Strangelove, I'd like to stay under 60K,,safety is important and we love options.
For example, the BMW is a great driving car and very safe,,but still not trimmed out like the Infinity or Lexus.
Thanks guys!

i've been driving the chevy avalanche for a few years, and totally dig it. smoothest ride i've ever had in a truck, and can haul stuff when you need.

This Volvo is one great looking vehicle.
Has anyone seen the GMC Envoy,,the one that looks like a Tahoe, but the top slides back and turns into a Pickup?
I got hung on looking at this, then realized I'm looking for my wife.
Another one is the Infinity ?56 suv,,man, this is up there with the Volvo. We are probably down to these two.
Now, if I don't continue losing in this NCAA BB!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks!
