GW will go at UR inside, not with 3s

George Washington has good size, and that?s how it scores. The Colonials (12-13, 6-6 in A-10) play at Richmond (16-11, 6-6) on Wednesday night, and will try to overwhelm the Spiders on the boards.
?They?re a very good rebounding team, and a team that really kind of dictates a tempo to the game,? said UR coach Chris Mooney. ?They have a game plan, and I think they follow their game plan.?

The Colonials would prefer a game in the low-60s. GW has outrebounded opponents by about five boards a game. They have by far attempted the fewest 3-point shots, and made the fewest, among the 16 A-10 teams.

UR has attempted 600 3s. GW has tried 262.

Look for eight freshmen to play significant minutes when Richmond (16-11, 6-6 in A-10) meets George Washington (12-13, 6-6) on Wednesday night at the Robins Center.
These are two programs that seem to be building toward something special, if not this season, in years to come.

The Spiders regularly play four freshmen: 6-foot-9 starter Alonzo Nelson-Ododa, 6-7 Deion Taylor, 6-8 Terry Allen, and 6-5 Trey Davis. The Colonials start four freshmen.
?I think they?ve improved. They?ve definitely been inconsistent,? second-year GW coach Mike Lonergan said of his freshmen.


The teams are part of a four-way tie for eighth place in the A-10. Twelve of the league?s 16 teams will advance to the A-10 tournament at Barclay?s Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., March 14-17.
