That first round was scarier than Blackwood in The Willows, or whatever those mountain people were stuffing between their pipes. Could have been worse. Theoretically.

11-31 -12.25

Twenty plays under .500. Goal. Did I make that many plays 1st round? It is better to look good than to feel good,

---

Series plays:

Maple Leafs > Panthers +156 2/3.12
Capitals > Hurricanes +160 2/3.2

--Coming full circle as Capitals were Maple Leafs 1st time, 1st round perpetrator when this long, but fruitless, 9-year playoff streak began for T.O. Back then, losing to Washington in 6 was a positive sign, and Auston scored in the final 4 games of that series. Lifetime ago, it seems.

---

G1 Maple Leafs ot +111 1.5/1.67

P2 G1 Maple Leafs -0.5 reg +171 / tues G1 oilers -0.5 reg +186 <+675> 0.5/3.37

--Two years ago the Leafs started a rare round 2 appearance at home to Panthers, so we get a redo. Back then, Leafs fell down 2-0 in game 1 before falling 4-2, then game 2 saw the Leafs grabbing an early 2-0 lead before slumbering in a 3-2 loss (both were Bobrovsky-Samsonov). Leafs had 36 then 37 shots on goal in those, outshooting Florida both games. Leafs scoring is down some, from back then, but this has been the cost of developing some sort of an actual defensive gameplan. Panthers' manhandling of the Lightning greatly due to some Hedman leg issue, several other injuries, Kucherov having a terrible series, and Vasi playing like he is distracted by lady troubles; Vasi never even saw 30 shots in a game until that game 5 closer. Leafs played their new style, fine, against the burgeoning Senators, outside of the one game 5, 4-0 stinker (was at home, mind you). If Stolarz can remain flaccid (hear his postgame comments on goofy, tying goal in game 6), he should stymie the Panthers O more than the Ruskie did. Hard for me to extrapolate a Leafs game 1 probable W at less than 50%, as the oddsmakers have done. Panthers 3-1 vs T.O. during season, with likely starter Stolarz going 1-2; Bobrovsky opponent in all 4. Leafs have better top-end talent but 3rd and 4th line matchups will be daunting; need some depth scoring to advance.

editors note: Much smarter, you know, to just put that half-a-franky on Leafs reggae, and then you can roll over whatever you want from any potential winnings on to the Tuesday play; it ain't going anywhere!

neighbour X: I know, I know, but all these tokens are boring a hole in my head

unknown lurker: This tool is blinded by major TML bias, so caveat emptor.

tues G1 Capitals ot +116 1/1.16

P2 G1 Capitals ot +116 / G1 oilers ot +122 <+379> 0.5/1.9

--Maybe its my fuck Freddy framework, but this line is even more surprising to me than the Leafs home dog opening. Hurricanes blew into the postseason on a pretty cold run, but were beneficiaries of facing a fringe playoff team, in the Devils, so they proceeded to stick the pitchfork into Lucy's substitute for a goalie, fulfilling the prophecy of Keefe's karma collapse as the Leafs recapitulate my demise. Capitals did not appear very threatened by the Canadiens, and it is clear they have more going for them, this year, than Ovechkin and his 99 seasons of scoring 24-65 goals (92, baby, not to mention an 87, and throw in a 73 and a 71). Sorry, maybe I'm just old school. Even Matthews pulled a 69, and I don't even think he's married yet. Nevermind. Gutter is peaceful. Go 'Caps.

--As for the Oilers-Golden Knights series, that over 6 for game 1 tempting, but at -121 and both teams maybe focusing on a feeling-out process, along with particular attention to defense, what with this unstellar Pickard-Hill backstopping. Western Conference final is there for the taking for either one of these final, June Leafs dispatches (barring Dallas Stars healthy returns, perhaps). Oilers got the best shot by a pretty sharp Kings team, and should not be unprepared for any nasty adversity that comes with this trip to Vegas. McDavid-Matthews would be a cool final, aye? Conner is actually a Maple Leaf, in one of those multiverses a couple of waci over. My dream ended as game 7 was going to OT, so I can't answer the Cup Q.

Greed is good, a movie poster once told me.
Do greed good, as you will

Dang. Can't find Stolarz with his getting "horny" comments. Is was.
